This document summarizes various announcements from a high school including upcoming college visits and fairs, summer programs at local universities, internship opportunities, extracurricular activities, and community service events. Seton Hall University will be visiting on April 11th and the National College Fair will be held on April 12th. The University of Hawaii is offering a Summer Scholars program and Early Start Program for current high school students. A blood drive and handicapped bowling event are also announced seeking student participation.

3. COLLEGE VISITS:

10-12:

4. SUMMER PROGRAMS:
 University of Manoa is offering two programs which help
high school students get a head start in college:
1. Summer Scholars: Take a summer class while still in
high school. Open to current sophomores and juniors.
Must have a 3.5 GPA and submit PSAT/SAT or ACT
scores. Summer Scholarships available for needy
students.

5. SUMMER PROGRAMS:
 University of Manoa is offering two programs which help
high school students get a head start in college:
1. Early Start Program: Seniors who have been accepted
to the University of Hawaii for fall 2016, may start in
summer by taking one or two classes. Great way to get
a head start in earning college credit before entering
UH.(See Mr. Fong for details.)

6. COLLEGE FAIR:
 The National College Fair will be held on April 12th at the
Hawaii Convention Center. There will be two shifts, morning
and evening.
 Attending a college fair is the best way to gather information,
firsthand, about colleges and universities. It’s free and open to
the public. The fair will give students an opportunity to meet
face to face with college representatives from all over the
world. Flyers will be passed out to students in grades 9-11. It
will also be posted on Edline. See your grade level counselor
for details. Pre-registration is recommended.

7. SUMMER INTERNSHIP:
 Hawai`i Pacific Health is offering their annual summer
internship for college students at Kapiolani Medical
Center for Women and Children, Pali Momi Medical
Center, Straub Clinic & Hospital, Wilcox Memorial
Hospital, and Kauai Medical Clinic. Students will be
able to interact with and learn from health care
professionals. Graduating high school seniors are
invited to apply. See Mr. Fong for flyers.

8. BOWLING:
 There will be a meeting today, in the Conference
Room from 3:15-3:45pm, for grades 7-12,
interested in participating.

9. JR. HIGH MAY DAY:
 Practice today, during lunch in Room A314. Please
be prompt!

10. ANNUAL BLOOD DRIVE:
 We need all forms turned in for the blood drive,
which is a week away (Friday, April 15th). It is
difficult to juggle appointments at the last minute, so
if you are planning to donate, please bring your form
in to Mrs. Sutter as soon as possible. If you
haven’t signed up yet, we still need many donors to
make this drive a success.

11. HANDICAPPED BOWLING:
 Community service hours will be given to students
who can volunteer to help at Fort Shafter Bowl on
Saturday, April 16th, from 10:30am – 12:30pm. All
paperwork for your car must be in order to get on
base. Please see Mrs. Sutter or Ms. Flynn to sign
up.
