White blood cells, also known as leukocytes, are important immune cells that help fight infection in the human body. The story describes a boy named John who got scratched by a stray cat carrying germs and viruses. This caused John to get sick as the germs killed his white blood cells. In response, a doctor injected John with antibiotics to eliminate the germs since antibiotics have power over germs.
