Start By:
a.Release the hydraulic system pressure.
Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali.
At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The
radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or
steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.
Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only
when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough
to touch with your bare hand.
4.Remove sheet assembly (1), hose (2), coolant tank (3), and guard assembly (4).
Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the
hose can come off causing burns.
Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with
skin and eyes.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.
Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the
engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is
not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.
Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and
the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil
filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool
enough to touch with your bare hand.
1.Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
2.Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the
correct draining and filling procedures.
3.Drain the hydraulic oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil -
Change" for correct draining and filling procedure.

7.Remove bolts (8) and sheet assembly (9).
5.Loosen clamps (5).
6.Loosen clamp (6) and reposition shroud seal (7).
10.Remove bolts (16) and reposition shroud assembly (17).
11.Remove bolts (13), bolts (14), and bracket assembly (15).
8.Loosen clamps (10) and (11). Reposition clamps (10) and (11).
9.Disconnect hose (12).

1. Install aftercooler (18) in the reverse order of removal.
a.Tighten bolts (20) and bolts (14) to a torque of 35 to 40 N·m (26 to 30 lb ft).
b.Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (8).
12.Disconnect hose (19).
13.Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to aftercooler (18). The weight of aftercooler
(18) is approximately 29 kg (64 lb).
14.Remove bolts (20) and aftercooler (18).

Removal Procedure
Air Cleaner - Remove and Install
SMCS - 1051-010; 1054-010
2.Remove clamp (2) and position hose (1) out of the way.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, clean the exterior of the
component thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
1.Open the left front access door.

1. Install air cleaner (5) in the reverse order of removal.
a.Tighten the clamp for cap (3) to a torque of 16.7 ± 3 N·m (148 ± 27 lb in).
3.Remove the cover from air cleaner (5). Remove both the outer filter and the inner filter.
4.Remove cap (3).
5.Remove bolts (4) and remove air cleaner (5).

1.Remove cable straps (2). Disconnect harness assemblies (1) and position the harness assembly
out of the way.
2.Remove tube assembly (3).

1. Install air control valve (8) in the reverse order of removal.
3.Loosen clamp assembly (5). Remove bolts (4) and remove air control valve (6).
4.Remove bolts (11). Separate housings (10) and (7) from the air control valve actuator (8).
Remove both seals (9) from the housings.

Catalyst (SCR) - Remove and Install
SMCS - 1091-010
1.Remove clamp assembly (1) and temperature sensor (3) from catalyst (SCR) (2).

2.Attach a suitable lifting device to catalyst (SCR) (2). The weight of catalyst (SCR) (2) is
approximately 56 kg (124 lb).
3.Disconnect clamp assemblies (4).
4.Use the suitable lifting device to remove catalyst (SCR) (2).
Note: When installing a new catalyst or a cleaned catalyst, a SCR reset must be performed. Refer to
Special Instruction, REHS8180, "Aftertreatment Filter Maintenance on Tier 4 Final Products
Equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), and a Selective
Catalyst Reduction (SCR) Filter" for the correct procedure.
1.Install catalyst (SCR) (2) in the reverse order of removal.
a.Tighten clamp assembly (1) to a torque of 35 ± 2 N·m (26 ± 1 lb ft).
b.Tighten temperature sensor (3) to a torque of 45 ± 5 N·m (33 ± 4 lb ft)
c.Tighten clamp assemblies (4) to a torque of 12 ± 1 N·m (106 ± 9 lb in).

1.Remove the clean emissions module.

4.Remove U-bolt (6), clamp (7), and pipe assembly (5).
2.Loosen ball clamp (3) from catalyst (1) and exhaust tube (3).
3.Disconnect sensor assembly (4) from catalyst (1).
1. Install catalyst (1) in the reverse order of removal.
5.Loosen clamp assemblies (9). Remove pins (8) in order to remove the top halves of clamp
assemblies (9). Use to people to remove catalyst (1).
a.Prior to installation, position new ball clamp (2).
b.Verify that the cup of the Ball Joint (C) does not touch the radius of the ball (B). Position
ball clamp (2) and hand tighten ball clamp (2). Measure Dimension (Y) and Dimension

(Z). Dimension (Y) and Dimension (Z) should be equal to each other. Repeat the
measurements every 90° around ball clamp (2). If necessary, adjust ball clamp (2).
c.Tighten ball clamp assembly (2) to a torque of 35 ± 2 N·m (26 ± 1 lb ft).
Note: Do not use power tools in order to torque ball clamp assembly (2).
d.Tighten clamps (9) to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (133± 27 lb in).

7.Remove four mount bolts (14). Remove clean emissions module (13).
Install clean emissions module (13) in the reverse order of removal.
a.Apply Tooling (A) to the O-ring seal inside hose assembly (12).
Installation Procedure
b.Prior to installation, position ball clamp assembly (9).
c.Verify that the cup of the Ball Joint (C) does not touch the radius of the ball (B). Position
ball clamp (9) and hand tighten ball clamp (9). Measure Dimension (Y) and Dimension
(Z). Dimension (Y) and Dimension (Z) should be equal to each other. Repeat the
measurements every 90° around ball clamp (9). If necessary, adjust ball clamp (9).
d.Tighten ball clamp assembly (9) to a torque of 35 ± 2 N·m (26 ± 1 lb ft).

Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali. At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns. Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
  • 3. 4.Remove sheet assembly (1), hose (2), coolant tank (3), and guard assembly (4). Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns. Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil. Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system. Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. 1.Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. 2.Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures. 3.Drain the hydraulic oil. Install aftercooler (18) in the reverse order of removal. a.Tighten bolts (20) and bolts (14) to a torque of 35 to 40 N·m (26 to 30 lb ft). b.Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (8). 12.Disconnect hose (19). 13.Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to aftercooler (18). The weight of catalyst (SCR) (2) is approximately 56 kg (124 lb). 3.Disconnect clamp assemblies (4). 4.Use the suitable lifting device to remove catalyst (SCR) (2). Note: When installing a new catalyst or a cleaned catalyst, a SCR reset must be performed. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS8180, "Aftertreatment Filter Maintenance on Tier 4 Final Products Equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), and a Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) Filter" for the correct procedure. 1.Install catalyst (SCR) (2) in the reverse order of removal. a.Tighten clamp assembly (1) to a torque of 35 ± 2 N·m (26 ± 1 lb ft). b.Tighten temperature sensor (3) to a torque of 45 ± 5 N·m (33 ± 4 lb ft) c.Tighten clamp assemblies (4) to a torque of 12 ± 1 N·m (106 ± 9 lb in).   • 21. 1. Install catalyst (1) in the reverse order of removal. 5.Loosen clamp assemblies (9). Remove pins (8) in order to remove the top halves of clamp assemblies (9). Use to people to remove catalyst (1). a.Prior to installation, position new ball clamp (2). b.Verify that the cup of the Ball Joint (C) does not touch the radius of the ball (B).
