Purpose of this training
This training is an effort to familiarize you with the basic forms and
procedures involved with being a Chapter Service Officer.
It is in no way meant to certify you as such. Only a National Service
Officer can certify you as a Chapter Service Officer.
The Chapter Service Officer (CSO) training is held annually and once
certified you must re-certify to continue to complete claims.

DAV Chapter Service Officers provide one of the most important links in
the organization. They are responsible for providing information about
benefits available to veterans, their dependents and survivors.
The primary function of the Service Officer is to advise, instruct and
counsel claimants and to provide assistance in the preparation of claims
for various benefits to which claimants may be entitled.
