2. REMIS ISLAND, CA (9-5-0) AT MEN OF STEEL, UK, (9-4-0)
Men of Steel lead the series 2-1-0
REMIS ISLAND and team owner MICHAEL REMIS rebounded rather nicely last week in their 127-90 Round-1 victory
over Mexico’s Bleeding Blue. Much of that was in thanks to the Matt Ryan-Julio Jones connection, who combined for 56 of
Remis Island’s 127 points. RBs Howard and Ingram, along with WRs Hopkins and Thielen each put up double-digit points,
although they were at or below their respective projected numbers; and certainly less than what fantasy football fans have
grown to expect. In this week’s semi-final showdown against the Men of Steel, Remis Island’s starters have very favorable
matchups, so much so that they find themselves as heavy 17-point favorites, with a 61% chance of winning. However,
word of warning: We’ve seen this song and dance before. In Matt Ryan’s last 2 home games, he posted just 15 and 9
points. Ingram has reached double-digit points just once in his last 3 games. Howard has been held to under 10 points 4
times in his last 5 outings. Since the Vikings started focusing more on their running game 3 weeks ago, we’ve seen
Thielen’s numbers plummet by more than 50%. Causing even more trepidation is Jones and Hopkins are currently listed
as questionable with foot injuries. Notwithstanding, Remis Island are the defending World Champions, and just 1 game
seperates them in their quest for a 2nd-straight World Bowl appearance. They didn’t get this far and enjoy such a level of
success for this long simply by being lucky. Still, it just might be a good idea for the citizens of the Great White North to be
cautiously optomistic rather than throwing caution to the wind.
What a train wreck! Just 3 weeks ago, the MEN OF STEEL and team owner GORDON DEDMAN were sitting on top of
the fantasy football world. Entering Week 12, they boasted a 9-2-0 record and were ranked #1, where they had been
situated most of the season. But that’s when things started to become unraveled. A combination of injuries and Leonard
Fournette’s suspension all caved in at one time leading to the Men of Steel to lose their last 2 games, thus putting a major
downer to an otherwise amazing season. Going into this week’s matchup, we find the Men of Steel’s top running back and
top wide receiver, James Conner (ankle) and Tyreek Hill (heel), each listed as questionable while they deal with foot
injuries. Even if both players take the field this week, just how effective or ineffective will they be? Ditto goes for RB Melvin
Gordon who suffered an MCL injury, although there is an outside chance he’ll be able to suit up this week according to the
latest reports. Then, there’s Ben Roethlisberger. How will his bruised ribs effect his deep to mid-range throws, especially if
he takes a few hits in the early going against Jacksonville’s nasty front-seven? Make no mistake, though. The Men of
Steel still have plenty of weapons, like Fournette, Mike Evans and George Kittle. But, can they carry this team on their
shoulders enough to deny the defending-World Champion Remis Island a second-straight World Bowl appearance?

STORMOZ, AU (9-5-0) AT SHANGHAI WANG, CN (10-3-0)
Series tied 1-1-0
Once again, Australia’s STORMOZ and team owner JOSHUA MANN defies the odds, and how they continue to win is not
only astounding, but also very unorthodox. Here, they’ve scored the league’s 6th-fewest points out of 12 teams. By
contrast, 2 teams who did not make the playoffs scored more points than StormOZ did. In addition, StormOZ tied for the
3rd-fewest touchdown passes (22), they tied for the 5th-fewest receiving TDs (25), and they ranked dead-last in return
TDs, with zero; all in a PPR league! Yet, here they are, just 1 game from the World Bowl! StormOZ’s 107-96 victory last
week over the Bowl Bound Mavericks says it all. QB Matthew Stafford (4) and RB Todd Gurley (8) each put up season-
low numbers. Josh Adams (3) had his least productive day since taking over as the Eagles’ featured back 4 weeks ago.
WR Golden Tate registered just 1 point, which is a season-low since being traded to Philadelphia. Derrick Henry scored
4. an eye-popping 47 points, but he was in a reserve role for StormOZ. Despite it all, StormOZ won, albeit by 11 points.
Pretty or ugly, a win is a win no matter how you stack it. Does StormOZ have 2 more games in them? Can they defeat the
#1-ranked Shanghai Wang this week and then advance to capture the title next week by beating either the #2-ranked Men
of Steel or #3 Remis Island? Stick around to find out!
The Finger of Favor certainly seems to have rested upon #1-seeded SHANGHAI WANG and team owner YANRAN
WANG. As the IFFL’s first female owned team, Shanghai Wang finished the season ranked 2nd in points (1798), 1st in
combined touchdowns (89), 1st in touchdown passes (42), and 2nd in receiving TDs (30). Shanghai Wang was also 1 of
only 2 teams to score 100+ points in all of their 13 regular season games. Yet, even the world’s top-ranked fantasy
football team has their weaknesses, and in Shanghai Wang’s case, it is their running back position, where none rank in
the top-10. In fact, their highest-rated back, David Johnson, is currently listed 12th, whereas their 2nd leading running
back, Dion Lewis, ranks 24th. In addition, Shanghai Wang has just 1 top-20 receiver, namely Michael Thomas (4th). Their
2nd best wideout, Cory Davis, like Dion Lewis, ranks 24th. Another concern is Shanghai Wang’s revolving door of
defenses. Because of constant reshuffling, their number of interceptions, fumble recoveries and sacks were quite
ordinary. Those numbers add up. However, what Shanghai Wang has is quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has proven
to be the x-factor amongst all NFL players. Still, Shanghai Wang cannot rely so heavily on Mahomes. What if he has a
bad hair day? Can their other starters step up and compensate in event things take a turn for the worst? Let’s hope so,
because if they don’t there will be no tomorrow.
