This document discusses the second conditional, which is used to talk about unlikely or imaginary possibilities. It can be used to talk about unlikely future events or impossible present situations. used with “COULD”, “MIGHT” .
These Modal Auxiliars reflect the
degree of certainty about the result.

6. NOTICE:
In American English, it´s common to use the
verb “to be” as “were” for the singular and
plural . This happens only in the conditional
forms.
