Record Snooping: More common than you thinkLance King
Record snooping is an intrusive act that has been done by healthcare workers for a long time. However, with the HIPAA Privacy rules, there are now serious repercussions for the healthcare worker and the office they work for. The results of record snooping include the employee losing their job, public humiliation for the office involved, heavy monetary fines, and potential legal action. This intrusive act is a big problem for the employee involved and their employer.

Title: USA Rx and Free Clinics Success: Mike Clawson
Publication: The Henry Schein Success Blog
Author: Sean Leigh
Date: August 24, 2015
Description: A blog post highlighting the success of our USA Rx solution with Free Clinics.
Location: Web URL: https://solutionshubnewsletter.wordpress.com/2015/08/24/usa-rx-and-
community-health-center-success/
Text:
Free Clinics are often at the front lines of medical service to lower-income patients. It is unfortunately
common for a doctor at clinic to write a prescription and the patient to be unable to afford to fill it. In
order to assuage the burden of cost and to help patients stay healthy, Free Clinics across the country
have begun using the USA Rx Prescription Card program, through the Henry Schein Medical
SolutionsHub. This particular success story comes to us from Mike Clawson, who helped a Clinic in Texas
save its patients thousands of dollars.
Doris Scales is the Director of the Christian Community Action Adult Healthcare Clinic in Lewisville, TX,
and is a valued subscriber to our USA Rx Solution Program. Recently, we asked her to lead a discussion
with her peers in the NAFC (National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics) during our webinar with
USA Rx, opening the topic of success while providing help to save the lives of those in need. Director
Scales has used the program to great effect, with her clinic servicing 400 claims to the USA Rx program,
with patient savings in excess of $9,000.
Director Scales’ input during the webinar discussion was extremely valuable; especially her hands-on
knowledge of the welcome assistance the program brings to those who cannot afford medication
otherwise. USA Rx provides prescription claims at a fraction of the cost, and currently has serviced more
than 4,000 claims with over $100k in patient savings with the NAFC. Helping those in need is why we do
what we do, and why we consider USA Rx one of our flagship solutions.

Text:
We write a lot about the power of solutions, and the success they can achieve, for both the customer
and the Sales Rep. When solutions are a consultants primary focus, we see a great deal of recurring
success, and we hope to expand that success to all of our Sales team. In order to highlight the successes
that our consultants achieve, we asked two consultants to give us their opinion on the subject. Tyler
Brown is a rookie FSC in Nashville, and Brad Hankey is a 15-year veteran FSC in the Maryland area. Both
of them had unique takes on what it means to sell solutions and how they found success in doing so.
As a longtime FSC, Brad Hankey has seen the business change drastically, and in order to set himself
apart in a growing field, he chose to highlight solutions. In his own words: “Offering my customers
solutions to their practices real problems is a major factor in my success. I am now able to sit with
administrators and discuss more pressing issues like billing, credentialing, and negotiating insurance
contracts. Meetings like these minimize some of the focus on ‘the nickel on a box of Band-Aids’.”
Brad uses the SolutionsHub brochures to build relationships and communication with high level
decision-makers, like financial managers, at business review meetings in order to help open doors for
further capital opportunities. “It is as easy as sitting with an administrator and flipping through the
brochure explaining each solution we offer and watching as their eyes light up. These solutions help to
make me a value to their practices.”
Tyler Brown has been an FSC since January, and in that relatively short time he’s already learned to
parlay his knowledge of Solutions into a strong relationship with his customers. “As a new rep, I am
constantly looking for ways to rapidly expand my business, and solidify my position with my existing
customer base. Solutions do both and are much easier to learn than 190k items. Initiating a dialogue
about utilizing the supply budget to take advantage of our innovative brand of solutions moves the sale
process along faster and intensifies our value proposition across the board.”
Tyler’s recent win with Capstone Pediatrics is demonstrative of the success of his method. After a
complete GPO pricing analysis and $50k in med/surg savings, Tyler has them considering a MedPro
contract, Ops Assure task management, eCat, and a proposal from Practice Builders. “Our first
conversations were centered on vaccines, and we worked very hard to get their pricing right, but we
hardly ever discuss it now. Instead, we discuss all of the revenue generating improvements we can
11. 11
provide to their practice. When Capstone encounters a business problem, even if it has nothing to do
with medical supplies, my phone rings, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Both FSC’s capably utilize their knowledge of solutions to highlight quality options for their customers,
and showcase themselves as knowledgeable and trusted advisors. In building relationships with
decision-makers and showcasing yourself as a source of knowledge and a money-saving resource, the
SolutionsHub is an excellent and proven tool.

Text:
On November 21, 2014, Henry Schein Medical and Cardinal Health announced a strategic arrangement
to provide a unique, comprehensive product and service offerings to IDN health systems. The alignment
provides a complete solution for the IDN continuum of care, combining Cardinal Health's products and
services centered on acute health system needs, with Henry Schein's outstanding service capabilities
and long history serving office-based care settings.
The Cardinal Health physician office-sales organization has been consolidated into Henry Schein
Medical. This is providing customers with improved efficiency, a wider breadth of products, world-class
service and value for the ultimate benefit of the patient. In other words, the agreement creates
additional supply chain services and value for health systems as they focus on improving patient care.
This content is sponsored by Henry Schein Medical
Henry Schein is committed to being a reliable network of trusted advisors to office-based practitioners,
in both their traditional individual practice and IDN's.
"Our agreement with Cardinal Health furthers this commitment by offering customers access to Cardinal
Health's leading branded products and leveraging Cardinal Health's experience in serving healthcare
systems across multiple sites of care," says Stanley M. Bergman, Henry Schein's chairman of the board
and CEO.
This continuum of care partnership is the result of a detailed examination of the medical space, and the
essential needs of a changing market to have a total solution. Henry Schein's programs, services and
infrastructure are designed specifically for the non-acute care space. As Henry Schein Medical President
Dave McKinley says, "Our entire focus has been on the non-acute-care space. It was a matter of looking
into the mirror and asking, 'What are we good at, and how can we best support our customers going
forward?' We know that the continuity across points of care is important. This is a good way to address
it."
With over 80 years in the business of servicing physicians, dentists, and veterinarians, Henry Schein
brings the highest possible level of consistency and proficiency in delivering products and services to the
office-based practice. "This agreement is the first of its kind in the space," says Mr. McKinley.
14. 14
"Healthcare today is all about collaboration, and Cardinal Health and Henry Schein have taken a huge
leap forward in putting the customer first to deliver optimal service across the continuum."
Efficiency and reliability
A key strength of Henry Schein is its ability to deliver a low unit of measure efficiently. The strong
backbone of quality assurance, advanced supply distribution networks and a wide range of product and
solution offerings makes Henry Schein one of the most advanced distributors in the marketplace.
Customers also benefit from dedicated trusted advisors, who identify opportunities for enhancing
physician office efficiencies with Henry Schein Medical's unique solutions.
A key component of Henry Schein's value proposition is reliability. When a customer orders from Henry
Schein Medical, they can expect that order to be filled quickly, easily and on time. In fact, the company
currently delivers products and services with a 99.9 percent fill rate, with 99 percent of those orders
shipped the day they are received. As cold-chain experts, and as the largest distributor of vaccines and
injectables in the office-based setting, they can fill perishable orders with the same efficiency as they do
consumable healthcare products and capital equipment.
Practice efficiency is another key component of the Henry Schein value proposition, designed to help
practitioners solve problems, eliminate obstacles, increase office services and deliver improved patient
care. From medical waste disposal to electronic record-keeping, the Henry Schein SolutionsHub offers a
comprehensive solution portfolio to help offices improve revenue and lower costs.
Compliance and standardization
A significant challenge of managing offsite offices is assuring contract compliance and product
standardization. Inventory management and compliance can be a frustrating headache. Henry Schein
recognizes that, and has put together programs to manage contract access, utilizing GPO and direct local
contracts. Understanding the needs of non-acute sites, Henry Schein can execute a plan to help contract
compliance within offices as the single point of contact. In 90 days or less, Henry Schein can implement
programs that increase the utilization of contracts and facilitate product standardization for any size
practice. These programs are managed by a dedicated and centralized team who focus on the
coordination and execution of supply programs, and can increase contract compliance.
Henry Schein understands there are a wealth of options in selecting supplies and services for office-
based networks, and it can be challenging to pick the best. Henry Schein confronts this problem with a
focus on standardization, taking the cacophony of options and boiling them down to a clear and concise
selection, using the best product lines and the best value. Adding the Cardinal Health line of products to
Henry Schein's selection will only enhance the process.
Reputation performance
Henry Schein's exceptional customer service is not just a claim that the company makes, but rather a
clear and definite fact, which has been proven time and again by their commitment to world-class
service on the most competitive level. In addition to a reputation for quality service, the company is
invested in offering new technology solutions to provide improved patient healthcare plans.
15. 15
These patient plans address chronic conditions and general wellness. The physician may offer these
plans to their patients to maintain their highest quality of health, using technology solutions for chronic
and non-chronic conditions. These plans engage the patient in the healthcare process and help maintain
their quality of life. These services and solutions can lead to increased patient wellness and better scores
for value-based reimbursement models.
In essence, Henry Schein is committed to high-quality services focused on the non-acute office. These
services increase revenue and lower costs, making them the best option for a growing business. Their
partnership with Cardinal Health will only strengthen and expand their capabilities, and they are fully
committed to providing superior service to their customers in the years to come.
