This document summarizes an oral intervention made by Linny Ng from PathFinders, a Hong Kong charity assisting pregnant migrant women and foreign domestic workers from Indonesia and their children. Ng notes that 40-60% of PathFinder's beneficiaries apply for non-refoulement protection each year to avoid being sent back to Indonesia where they face discrimination, violence, and mistreatment. Ng makes two recommendations: 1) more adequately assess claims from Indonesian single mothers and their Hong Kong-born children who face risks if returned to Indonesia, and 2) more adequately address human trafficking and forced labor in Hong Kong.
