2. What We Do
Stop Drop and Play Children’s Museum supports the families of
the Montgomery County area by:
Providing open play time with flexible and convenient
hours. The museum hours are 10 am until 4pm Tuesday
through Friday. We are also open on Sundays from 10am
until 2pm.
Inviting children with special needs and/or developmental
delays. Montgomery County’s Infants and Toddlers Early
Intervention Program offers in home therapies and
services to children with special needs and/or
developmental delays until age 3. Therapists and service
providers are welcome to provide services at the museum
free of charge. We also accept referrals from Infants
and Toddlers for families with financial needs to receive
a discounted admission rate.
Encouraging community involvement. The museum offers
reservation based evening and summer programs, as well.
Middle school and high school students are eligible to
receive student service learning (SSL) hours through
volunteering for these events by participating with the
younger children.
Connecting the community. The museum offers meeting
space for various support groups in our area. One of our
local hospitals has begun organizing a Parenting Preemies
support group for families who have experienced a NICU
stay. This support group fosters relationships between
families that experience similar challenges raising
premature or medically fragile children. Stop Drop and
Play is excited to provide meeting space for this group at
no cost.
Celebrating children. The museum offers fun and
educational birthday parties at reasonable rates. The
celebration is about two hours long and allows guests to
independently experience the exhibits in the museum,
participate in a whole group activity, and also enjoy a
birthday treat!
About the Museum
Stop Drop and Play Children’s Museum provides fun,
enriching, and engaging exhibits that excite children
from newborn to age 7. Opportunities for dramatic
and rich sensory play are necessary for young
children.
By engaging in play, children develop oral language
and literacy skills, as well as problem-solving,
creative thinking, collaboration, negotiation, and
decision making abilities. We are proud to provide
these play and social opportunities to families with
young children in the economically, culturally, and
ethnically diverse Montgomery County area.
