  1. We have come from a broadcast world where TV and Newspapers churn out generic media to the masses in the hope that it may interest someone.Casting our views
  2. The Internet, Social Media and Mobile has changed the face of the world and the way we interact. Our expectations of a digital experience are much higher, our tolerance for anything broadcast at us is much lower.
  3. If we are going to be successful, the next generation of digital signage networks need to entice and engage viewers on an individual level.Displays need to become a destination, offering valuable personalized content that is relevant to each individual
  4. Early digital signage mirrored broadcast television, we even called it In-store TV Technology has provided Digital Signage the capabilities to be intelligent, becoming an extension to the Internet and the experiences we engage with online on a daily basis.
  5. So how has technology evolved to turn a passive broadcast display into an intelligent engaging and personalized experience? Internet Connect Devices – The biggest single change has been the move from Satellite and FTP technologies to broadcast media, to two-way IP based Internet technology accessing all the web has to offer within seconds.Dynamic, Engaging, Relevant Content – Unless your display becomes a destination to the user, they will ignore it.Gone are the days of reworking TV ads and sending them to 100 screens.Companies such as Screenfeed provide auto-updated feeds of images and videos that when subscribed to be a specific display, will update and display the very latest news, sport entertainment and weather for that specific location.This can be extended to dynamic content from the venue or HQ database to show time and location sensitive offersUser Interaction and Mobile –Whether it be touch, gesture, NFC, GPS or user proximity sensors. The world expects to touch, swipe, fondle anything with a display.From mobile to iPad, users expect to interact with any medium.Social Media – We like, we check-in we expect to receive personalized content and rewards.The same is expected from our displays.Companies such as Insteo in Los Angeles created venue specific social media applications in HTML5 so not only do they work on digital signage displays, you can take them away with you on your mobile phone.Audio, Visual, Social and Mobile Integration –Whether it be touch, gesture, NFC, GPS or user proximity
