The SOCES school adhered to the memorandum from the Department of Health and Department of Education by implementing a School-Based Immunization Program for 230 Grade 1 pupils on August 29, 2016. Representatives from the Rural Health Unit provided free measles-rubella and tetanus vaccines to prevent morbidity and mortality from vaccine-preventable diseases. Some children were reluctant due to fear of pain, but nurses said the injection only felt like a small insect bite. One student said it hurt but he was proud of himself for conquering his fear. The vaccination program is conducted every August for Grade 1 and 7 students nationwide to ensure all pupils receive important vaccines. The activity at SOCES successfully vaccinated all 230 Grade 1 students present that day
