Shreedatta Patel is a 6th grade student at Baroda High School studying science. Their project topic is drought. A drought is defined as a period with less than normal water availability, usually due to low rainfall. Drought can last for days, months or years. Droughts are often caused by higher than normal sunlight evaporating water. Droughts negatively impact plants, animals, and humans by reducing food and water sources as ecosystems are interconnected. However, droughts can positively impact water suppliers and animals by increasing demand for stored water. Humans can reduce the effects of drought through water conservation methods to use water more efficiently and reduce waste.
