A survey of 1,102 California voters revealed that the economy and immigration are their primary concerns, with healthcare being a secondary issue mainly focused on access and quality rather than price transparency. Voters expressed a strong desire for improved transparency regarding out-of-pocket costs and hospital pricing rather than just prescription drug prices. Additionally, respondents support proposals that enhance insurance practices and curb prescription medicine price gouging.

SB 17 doesn’t address most pressing issues for CA voters
As part of an omnibus poll of California voters, PhRMA commissioned a series of health care questions.
As you will see on the following slides:
SLIDE 1: California voters are most concerned with the economy and immigration issues. Healthcare is
a second-tier issue.
SLIDE 2: Voters care more about access to care and quality health coverage, like making sure they get
needed medicines and access to their doctor, than the price transparency called for in SB 17
SLIDE 3: On transparency, California voters want more information from insurers about out-of-pocket
charges, hospital prices and provider networks than about prescription drug prices.
Methodology
PSB (Penn Schoen Berland) conducted n=1,102 online interviews from June 16-20, 2017, among California 2018 general election likely voters statewide.
The margin of error for this study is +/- 2.95% at the 95% confidence level and larger for subgroups.
