Vasilati is a commune located in southern Romania in Calarasi County. It has been inhabited since the Neolithic period, as archaeological artifacts from that era have been found on archaeological sites in the area. The commune is situated on fertile land near water resources and forests. It is composed of four villages - Vasilati, Prosanic, Popesti, and Walnuts. The main occupation of inhabitants is agriculture, with the commune having 6669 hectares of land, most of which is leased. Key infrastructure includes schools, a park, sports facilities, a library, town hall, and religious sites. The commune is accessible by rail, roads, and is located 25km from a motorway.

2. Short history
Typical plain settlement, Vasilati commune is an ancient
dwelling. Oral tradition mentions the existence of these
places since 1362. The archaeological finds indicate that
in these places man has lived since the Neolithic period,
as is shown by the objects of silex and bone, stone axes
as well as numerous ceramic fragments taken from the
archaeological sites .

5. Placement
Vasilati is located in the Romanian Plain, in the south of Romania,
in Calarasi County. It is an ancient hearth inhabited since the
Neolithic period. The fertile land, the important water resources,
the vast stretches of forest have offered many possibilities of life.
The relief is smooth and does not offer spectacular landscapes.
But really spectacular is how careful man finds here a unique
possibility of interiorization. The geographical coordinates are: 44
° 17'29 "north latitude and 26 ° 26'57" east longitude. The
settlement is composed of four villages: Vasilati - the center of the
village, Prosanic, Popesti and Walnuts.

7. the distance to the capital, Bucharest, is 29 km, and the city of
Oltenita is 31 km. The transport routes are the Bucharest-Oltenita
railway and the county road DJ 301. The access is made on the
road of the European category located 25 km from the commune,
on the national road and also the commune is located 25 km from
the motorway. It is located in the south-west of the Mostiştea
Plain, on the lower course of the Dâmboviţa River and on the
Rasa River.
The commune has 4509 inhabitants, out of which 2530 are able to
work. The available population is 1500 women and 1030 men.
The basic occupation of the inhabitants of Vasilati is agriculture. At
the commune level there are 6669 ha of land, of which 411 ha are
intravilan land and the rest of the land outside. Much of the
landowners have land leased.
