To Whom It May Concern:
This a recommendation letter on behalf of my former employee Sarah Couvillion. When
my husband and I bought a veterinary practice in 2007, Sarah was the first person that we
hired to add to the existing staff. It has been over 8 years since then and we have had
many people come and go. We still do all of our hiring ourselves and it has not proven to
be any easier of a process with experience. Although we have made some mistakes in
choosing from a large group of applicants, Sarah turned out to be “one of the good ones”.
Sarah worked as a veterinary receptionist and a veterinary assistant while she was with us
and she had no prior experience in either field. That didn’t matter- she is an incredibly
fast learner with the common sense that is required of someone who must learn
efficiently and often with little oversight. While working in the front, she had to juggling
handling 3 phone lines, 2 reception areas, 4 exam rooms, and a pharmacy. She was
cheery and outgoing to the clients (and their pets) and showed deep compassion. While
working in the back of the hospital, Sarah did a wide range of tasks. With no experience
as a veterinary assistant, it can take some time before one learns how to even properly
restrain an animal for procedures. Some people get it quickly and some do not, but Sarah
seemed to have a knack for the job. I believe it was due, in part, to her intuitive nature.
I’d recommend Sarah Couvillion for almost any job- she has a “can do” attitude and is
incredibly smart. If Sarah was applying for a position for which she had no concrete
experience, I wouldn’t discourage her. She seems to be able to figure anything out. She
has the integrity, enthusiasm, and motivation to do an excellent job in any position.
Please feel free to contact me directly for any further questions you may have regarding
my experience with Sarah Couvillion.
Sincerely,
Mary Beth Goetting-Wentzell, DVM
