2. In 2007, my father gave me two mobile homes. He still lived in one and the
other was used as a guest home of sorts for relatives visiting. Shortly after he
gave them to me, he passed away.
He intended for me to have the mobile homes to rent and provide extra income
to me when I retired.
A relative suggested that I rent them totally furnished. I was leery knowing how
renters, might trash a piece of property.
The same relative had experience in renting to traveling contractors. I was still
skeptical, but thought I would give it a try.

Editor's Notes
During one period, when I could not find any traveling contractors to rent to, I tried renting all furnished/utilities paid to locals, and it proved to be a headache. That was when I knew I had to find traveling contractors someway, somehow. I will Explain why in the following pages. I will also give you some tips that I Have learned along the way. My first renters were by referrals from the relative when their places filled up. I Was pleasantly surprised at the outcome and decided that Renting to traveling contractors might not be so bad. “I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome of renting to traveling contractors.”
Traveling Contractors are usually interested in renting by the week or month. If they are interested only in a nightly rate, the motels will be more able to accommodate them. Generally, those who prefer weekly rent are thinking they will be on the job short term and are usually men—sometimes women. They do not want to put up utility deposits, etc., because they do not know when they will have to leave suddenly for another job.Contractors interested in monthly rentals are the workers who know they will be there for several months, have family with them, and are most likely supervisors. Many of those who want monthly rentals probably will not mind putting up utility deposits, etc.You may not be familiar with the traveling contractor as a renter and assume that they only stay in brand-name motels. However, if you have ever lived in a city where a plant was being shut down for a major overhaul or other big construction projects were going on, you have seen what happens when all of the motels fill up. Everyone (like the Chamber of Commerce, plant representatives, etc.) start looking for other places for the workers to stay. I have heard stories of people who had three bedroom houses who were renting out bedrooms for about the same amount that a motel room would cost, and the “tenants” shared the common space.
