Jediism A religion based on The Force, meditation, and commitment
Followers of Jediism have been around since 1977. The movement began after the Star Wars movies were released and it was declared a religion years following. Daniel Jones founded the first church of Jediism in 2008. All religions must begin somewhere and Jediism is no different. It is a baby religion that is slowly growing.

The religions main mission is to reaffirm and restore the knowledge of the True Inner Self (which we refer to as Jedi) and invite all to a personal faith in the Light, which encompasses the Light Side of the Force celebrated by numerous religious and beliefs that span over five thousand years of human history.
A real Jedi may belong to any Church or no other Church as long as she/he takes a true oath to follow our Creed and Code. As a follower, one is not committed to just this religion. One can have other beliefs, mostly because in Jediism there is no deity. The religion itself is based off The Force.
The Force, according to Jediism, is an energy field generated by all living things, the Force surrounds and penetrates everything, binding the universe together.
- The first type of force is Ki, which derives from the Japanese martial art of Aikido, referred to as the “m o ving Zen. ” This shows the connection with the Force because Jediism followers believe in heavy meditation in achieving this balance. -The second type of Force is the bond between Prana and the Force. Prana is th e power which enables us to think, to feel and to hear .
- A third type of the Force is dealing with the Force as a path to personal enlightenment. -The last type is the Force and free will. This type of the Force just enforces the other steps along with choosing the li ght side. The light side is basically the good choice in all situations. If a Jedi is one with nature, the universe, and itself then one can only take in good.

Another notable part of Jediism is their ranking system. There are five different ranks one can achieve. The different ranks show various steps of commitment and knowledge to the religion. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
To become an active member in Jediism is very simple. If you go to one of the various Church of Jediism websites or mail a letter to a chapter it will be reviewed then you will be informed of the next proper steps to take. There are no membership fees of any kind so it is very appealing and practical for many people. After being approved, the new member can acquire the different training books.
In conclusion, the strange yet intriguing religion of Jediism is justified. Although some may claim it is a hoax or a joke, if one researches it thoroughly, they would find that Jediism, like other religions is well organized and has a belief system and many goals. The modern ideals and new age practices are attractive to many individuals. The slowly growing religion is surely making a name for itself. Even though one may not exclusively believe in Jediism, the ideas and concepts are unknowingly practiced by a vast majority of individuals. As written from the infamous George Lucas, Ma y the force be with you!
