EBS in an hour: Build a Vision instance - FAST - in Oracle Virtualboxjpiwowar
Slides from OAUG Connection Point conference in Pittsburgh, July 2013. Presentation discussed how to create an EBS Vision instance in Oracle Virtualbox, using OVM templates to avoid some of the pain of installation and patching. Content based on this blog post: http://www.pythian.com/blog/build-ebs-sandbox-1hr/ , with some minor modifications: resulting EBS instance is single-node, not two-node, instance.
Slides by themselves are of questionable value, since much of the presentation was a live demo. Still, I believe in sharing, so here they are. ;)
Oracle Database Appliance RAC in a box Some Strings AttachedFuad Arshad
Oracle Database Appliance is an engineered system that is geared towards Small and Medium businesses but has all the bells and whistles for enterprise deployments. This talk will focus on Oracle Database Appliance deployment as a consolidation platform as well as as a development platform for rapidly deploying databases. We will talk about the Deployment process , the patching process and the best practices built into The Oracle Database Appliance. We will also talk about the DBA's role for managing the ODA as well as security considerations

Oracle Flex ASM - What’s New and Best Practices by Jim WilliamsMarkus Michalewicz
Oracle Open World (OOW) 2014 Presentation by Jim Williams (Oracle ASM Product Manager) on Oracle Flex ASM - What's New and Best Practices. The presentation provides an overview of enhancements (What's New) in Oracle ASM 12c, especially with respect to Oracle Flex ASM, and provides best practices which can be applied in any environment (Flex or Standard ASM). This presentation has also more background information for some of the configuration recommendations that I made in my "Oracle RAC (12.1.0.2) Operational Best Practices" presentation.
Since the manageability of RMAN backup, restore and recovery operations are nearly identical for nonclustered and clustered databases, the objective of this presentation is summarize you how RMAN can be best utilized in a RAC database.

ODA is a pre-configured, simple setup, high performance engineered system running 11gR2 cluster. It is a great choice for small to medium sized DBs and if you wish it can be used for Oracle EBS DB too. This paper will show you how the standardized configuration of ODA can be adjusted to comply with the specific requirements of e-Business Suite without sacrificing ODA’s flexibility and supportability. The paper will also share author’s experience migrating, running and maintaining R12 database tier on ODA.

Implementation RIS3 through Clusters - New Role of Clusters in Regional Devel...Gerd Meier zu Koecker
In recent years, cluster policy has gained increased importance in improving the competitiveness of local industries and in facilitating industrial transformation processes. The majority of European regions has developed regional Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3) to stimulate more strategic and more focused investments in the regions to create more jobs and economic growth. These growth strategies, based on clusters in the respective regions, demand comprehensive efforts for mobilising resources for accelerating innovation and industrial transformation efforts. Regions are a driving force in this endeavour, as favourable place-based business conditions are making a difference to incentivise actors in the real economy, notably small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Industrial transformation is a significant challenge for regional policy makers to adapt existing cluster policies accordingly. Requirements for enterprises, clusters as well as for cluster policy are changing dramatically. The challenge is to implement S3 through clusters to gain sustainable and inclusive growth. Not much experiences exist due to a lack of knowledge about S3 in other regions.
The presentation shows new ways how to make better use of clusters and how to measure the systematic of the related approach.
