The lives of guards on Death Row are affected
by one of their charges: a black man accused of
child murder and rape, yet who has a
mysterious gift. Tom Hanks leads a stellar cast
(including Michael Clarke Duncan as Coffey) in
this emotional, uplifting story of guards and
captives; husbands and wives; prisoners and a
remarkable little mouse named Mr. Jingles.

Community Management Services
Company Overview
Crawford Hoying provides solutions for every aspect of real estate in today’s ever changing
market. In addition to managing approximately eight million square feet of multifamily and
commercial properties, Crawford Hoying and its affiliates assist clients with asset acquisi-
tion and disposition. We also offer a full range of development, construction, insurance and
risk management services. More than 200 team members work for Crawford Hoying and
its subsidiaries in the Columbus Market, and more than 15,000 residents call one of our 30
communities their home.
The Crawford Hoying Difference
Rarely found in this industry, our approach is very systematic and data-driven, with leader-
ship as the key component. Borrowing from the GE and Toyota business models, we focus
on people and process to deliver results.
At Crawford Hoying, we base our performance targets on beating the market average, as
defined by REIS. Specific occupancy, rate, and expense ratio goals are set for each unique
community.
After establishing strategic objectives, we develop operating budgets, capital budgets and ac-
tion plans to support the strategic objectives.
Our point of pride is our ability to execute the plan. Standard operating procedures establish
clear expectations and produce predictable results. Carefully selected leaders and team mem-
bers, coupled with incentive programs tied to the bottom line, ensure everyone is committed
to the same ideals – beat the market and deliver results.
We closely monitor progress with weekly and monthly operational reviews. Team members
are reviewed three times per year.
Many companies measure, but few take action. At Crawford Hoying, action plans are modi-
fied to leverage newly discovered best practices, avoid projected performance misses, or re-
cover from current performance shortfalls: plan, execute, measure, countermeasure, execute,
measure, countermeasure, etc.

A Tribute to Two Sisters
Inniswood Metro Gardens was once the 37-acre
estate of sisters Grace and Mary Innis, who enjoyed
gardening and wildlife observation respectively.
The Innis sisters’ desire to preserve and enhance
their gardens and woodlands for the enjoyment
of all people resulted in the generous donation of
their home and property to Franklin County Metro
Parks in 1972.
To honor the memory of Grace and Mary Innis,
Metro Parks opened the 2.8-acre Sisters’ Garden
in 2002. Designed to celebrate the complexity of
nature and the inquisitiveness of childhood, The
Sisters’ Garden aspires “to nurture the nature of the
child in everyone”.
Learning and Appreciation
Inniswood offers education in horticulture and the
natural sciences for children and adults. Dramatic
displays of natural and cultivated gardens, seasonal
celebrations and a variety of programs provide a
wealth of information and enjoyment. The sister’s
former home is the site for education programs, a
horticultural reference collection and staff offices.
Inniswood Volunteers
The purpose of the Inniswood Volunteer Program
is to promote the development of Inniswood Metro
Gardens. All funds raised through projects are used
to operate and promote Inniswood and its educa-
tional and volunteer programs.
Membership is open to anyone wishing to volunteer
a minimum of 40 hours per year at Inniswood and
willing to pay annual dues of $10.00. Membership
in the Inniswood Garden Society is a benefit for
volunteers who volunteer 40 hours or more per year
at Inniswood. The volunteer training program, held
each March, consists of four sessions, which prepare
participants to perform various services at Innis-
wood. These services include garden tours and main-
tenance, interpretation and assistance in the library
and educational programs. It also includes a variety
of special interest groups supporting the Gardens’ in-
terest in fern propagation, theme gardens, container
gardening, and wildflowers to name a few.
Approximately 300 dedicated volunteers help the
Inniswood staff conduct tours and programs, tend
the gardens and participate in an array of activities.
IVI sponsors the annual perennial plant sale the first
weekend of May. All volunteers are encouraged to
attend quarterly meetings held at Innis House that
include a short business meeting and horticultural
program. To learn more about volunteer opportuni-
ties at Inniswood, please call the Volunteer Coordi-
nator at (614) 895-6226.
Inniswood Garden Society
Inniswood Metro Gardens is a facility of the Frank-
lin County Metro Parks. Operation and maintenance
funds are provided by the District, however, contin-
ued growth and development are contingent upon
gifts from private citizens and philanthropic organi-
zations.
The Inniswood Garden Society was created in
1984 to assist the Franklin County Metro Parks in
the growth and development of Inniswood Metro
Gardens in a manner that is consistent with the goals
and philosophies of the park district. Addition-
ally, the Inniswood Garden Society assists with the
promotion of Inniswood by sponsoring horticultural
programs for its members and the public.w
Society members receive an Inniswood Garden
Society newsletter, a vote at the annual meeting
and information on the activities and special events
at Inniswood. Membership in the Society helps to
assure the success of Inniswood and brings a deep
sense of involvement in knowing that your member-
ship is helping support this excellent horticultural
facility. Your membership helps the Gardens grow!
