To Whom It May Concern:
I am the manager of the Online Undergraduate Program for the College of Business at Southern Illinois
University. Each of our courses has a teaching assistant (TA) assigned who monitors the day-to-day flow of
the course. The TA is the content expert and is the first contact for student inquiries relating to subject
matter. Other tasks performed by the TA include the monitoring of discussion boards, grading of assignments
and discussion posts, and various development-related activities.
The following (unedited) comments were submitted by students completing courses for which Samantha
Mirza was the teaching assistant:
Spring 2014 (MGMT 202 – Business Communications)
 Very fast responses, very cooperative
 Does well at explaing what is due and when it is due. Provides good feedback on assignments
 Very good about getting the grade back to us and telling us what we did wrong
 TA was there to answer any question I had throughout the course.
 Very supportive and involved. Great response time with answers.
 she was an outstanding TA always letting us know what was do for the week and when it was
due.
 I was blown away with how prompt she was to answer my questions and able to help when I felt
like I was falling apart. I could not have kept it together this first two classes at SIU without her!
Spring 2014 (MGMT 350 – Small Business Management)
 Gives good feedback
 Easy to deal with
 Graded assignments and posted them within a short period of time.
 She was always available to reach whenever i had a question regarding something.
 Good at responding to students' questions.
Spring 2014 (FIN350 – Small Business Finance)
 Emails helped prepare for each module
 Very helpful, quick to respond, explains things well.
 Hopefully will be my next TA in finance.
Spring 2014 (MGMT 385 – Personnel/Human Resource Management)
 Grades in a fair and quick manner
 So supportive, fair and on top of things
 Fast to grade and respond to email messages
 TA is great and very informative
 Responds to students in a timely manner
Summer 2014 (MGMT 350 – Small Business Management)
 Responded quickly
 Great in grading assignments and returning them in a timely manner
 Quick with her work, energetic, and gives good feedback
 Gave detailed advice on how to improve assignments
 The TA was descriptive in her grading and let you know when and why points were deducted
 Weekly emails were helpful
 Easy to understand
 Quick to resond to questions through email
 Very helpful and timely in email question responses
Summer 2014 (FIN 350 – Small Business Finance)
 She responses to questions or concerns very quickly
 Definitely showed interest in students succeeding
