3. 06/05/11 The Temple Square The Temple Square is a very historical and educational place in Salt Lake City. Here you can find places like the family history library and the museum of history and art. There you can see all about the history and fame of Salt Lake City. We went to the museum and learned a lot of new things about Salt Lake City and the history of it. We didn’t realize that Salt Lake City had such historical value.
4. 06/06/11 Kennecott Utah Copper’s Bingham Canyon Mine We took a tour through the mine and saw how much of an interesting place it was. We could not believe how big it was! It was an amazing thing to look at. The world’s largest man made excavation. Located 28 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, the mine is 2 ¾ miles across and ¾ mile deep. It is so big that it can be seen from outer space.
5. 06/07/11 The Great Salt Lake We took many pictures and had a picnic right next to the water. We loved the beautiful sight seeing at this lake but the water was very cold! The largest natural lake west of the Mississippi River. It is approximately 75 miles long and about 35 miles wide. Located in several wide flat basins, a slight rise in water level expands the surface area of the lake considerably. The first scientific measurements were taken in 1849 and since then the lake level has varied by 20 feet, shifting the shoreline in some places as much as 15 miles.
6. 06/08/11 Miller Motorsports Park It is a state of the art road racing facility located just 30 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. It is considered the finest facility of its type in North America. We stayed there all day and watched one of the famous races. It was extremely loud and we had a blast.
7. 06/09/11 Deseret Peak Via Mill Fork Trail It is a 7 mile hike out and back. The difficulty is strenuous. This hike ascends the 11,031 feet summit of Deseret Peak, in the Stansbury Mountains west of Salt lake City. We did the all day hike and were very tired and needed a lot of rest to be able to get up the next day.
8. 06/10/11 Grand America Hotel Inspired by the world's grand hotels of the past, The Grand America Hotel has the allure of Old World craftsmanship, charm and hospitality, with every modern convenience at your fingertips. 9. Itinerary Day 1 (06/05/11) We got picked up that morning in our limo and drove to the airport. We ate breakfast at the airport and got on our flight. We slept on the plane. Once we got to the airport we went to pick up our rental car. We picked up our car and drove straight to the hotel. We put all of our bags in our room and decided what were going to do that day. We skipped lunch and headed straight to the Temple Square. We went through the museum and learned a lot. We ate dinner at Rodizio Grill and after that went back to the hotel and went to sleep. Day 2 (06/06/11) We woke up and ate breakfast. We wanted to go to a famous place in Salt Lake City so we decided to go to the Kennecott Utah Copper’s Bingham Canyon Mine. We took a very long tour and explored the mine and we were very surprised with how big it was. By the time we were done with the tour and finally got out of there it was already time to eat. We decided to eat at Rodizio Grill again because we liked it so much. We will be eating there every night for the rest of the trip. After that we went back to the hotel and went to bed. Day 3 (06/07/11) We woke up and ate breakfast at the hotel again. Today we decided to visit the thing that Salt Lake City was named after. We are going to visit the Great Salt Lake! We drove there around lunch time. We took a walk around the lake then we realized that we were getting hungry. Good thing we brought picnic materials. We had a picnic and decided to see how cold the water was. We dipped our feet in and decided not to go in because it was so cold. We realized how late it was getting and we decided to eat an early dinner because we were still hungry. After that we went back to the hotel and went to sleep. Day 4 (06/08/11) We woke up and ate breakfast at the hotel like we always do. Today we are going to the Miller Motorsports Park where we can watch a race. We chose to go to an all day racing event. We got there at lunch time and by the time we got out we were almost ready to crash. We had an extremely fun time there and we could barely hear anything after. We ate a late dinner and went straight to sleep at the hotel after.
10. Itinerary (Continued) Day 5 (06/09/11) We woke up early today so we can do the one thing we came here for. We decided to take an amazing hike through the mountains! We chose a place called the Mill Park Trail and its in Deseret Peak. The hike is going to be very hard but we are very devoted. We brought a lot of water and snacks. We started in the early afternoon. We had a lot of fun hiking through the breath taking hike through the mountains. After we completed the all day 7 mile hike we went to dinner and as we were nearly dead we went back to hotel and went to sleep early. Day 6 (06/09/11) We slept very ate and had a late breakfast. Day 7 (06/09/11) We drove to the airport a few hours before our 3:00 A.M. flight. We dropped off our car then waited to board the plane. When we boarded the plane we were really tired so we slept for the entire flight. We landed back home and we were very proud to say that we have been to Salt Lake City.
