The cornerstone of Saint Philomene
Academy was laid on August 25, 1950 by
the founders: Atty. Vicente Diaz Calvo, Mr.
Rogelio Ponce and Mr. Arturo Antonio. In
honor of the patron saint of the school
Saint Philomene, the school was given its
name Saint Philomene Academy.

The lot where the school stands which is
more or less 4 hectares was voluntarily
given, granted and donated by Mr. Rogelio
Ponce to further express in tangible terms
his wish for the institution’s sound and firm
rooting. The donation and gift for Saint
Philomene Academy was received and
accepted by the President of the Board of
Trustees, Atty. Vicente Diaz Calvo.

A permit from the Department of
Education was granted to the school to
open and conduct the Complete Academic
Secondary Course in 1951 for boys and
girls. The school was under the directorship
of Mr. Rogelio Ponce with Mr. Arturo
Antonio as principal with the first line up of
faculty; Miss Dolores Ponce, Miss Trinidad
Calvo, Miss Estefania Formoso, Miss
Leonila Cuade, Mr. Roger Calvo and Mr.
Benjamin de Leon as School Registrar.

The school was granted its first
Government Recognition through the
recommendation of Manuel S. Carreon,
Director of Private Schools in July 5, 1953
signed by the Secretary of Education then,
Cecilio Putong. The school is registered
with the SEC which was amended on
October 15, 1981.

Saint Philomene Academy had its first
graduates of 10 boys and 4 girls, total of 14
followed by 19 graduates and had remarkably
increased since then. More than half a
century had passed since the founding of
Saint Philomene Academy and the school is
proud to have produced hundreds of
graduates and professionals who have
excelled in their field of endeavor. Its
educational commitment and service has
niche in education, business and industry.

On November 24, 2015, pursuant to the
provision of Republic Act No. 9115
(Governance of Basic Education Act of
2001) and Republic Act No. 10533
(Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013),
the Saint Philomene of Alcala was granted
provisional permit to operate the Senior
High School program effective school year
2016-2017.

(GA) STRAND with Government Permit (R-
02) No. S – 124 S. 2015.
Likewise on December 12, 2018,

operate the Senior High School Program
effective school year 2019-2020.

1. The Philomenian has the right to receive competent
and efficient instruction, relevant quality education.
2. He/She has the right to use all available facilities as
maybe necessary.
3. He/She has the right to join, form or lead in such
student organizations as maybe recognized to operate
in the school. Furthermore, he/she has the right to be
represented by the student government whose officers
are democratically elected in a manner provided by the
schools existing rules.

4. He/She has the right to be formally appraised of any
complaint against him/her, and the right to be heard
through proper channeling of complaint to the right
authorities depending on the weight of the complaint
being forwarded to by him/her. The line of
responsibility is as follow, The SSG Officers, the class
adviser, the Adviser of the Student Government, the
Prefect of Discipline, the Guidance Facilitator, and the
Principal.

charges against him/her until the contrary is proven by
sufficient proof of wrong doing or violation of its
policies stipulated therein.
