The Society for Army Historical Research
Waterloo TWO HUNDRED
It is not usual for the Honorary Editor specifically to solicit material for publication from the
membership, an ample stock always appearing without prompting. However, in view of the
approach of the two hundredth anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo it would be unthinkable
for the Society not to mark this great event. The Society’s Council has not yet addressed how
these events should be represented in our publication programme, but there is the possibility of
a Special Issue.
The Hon. Editor would therefore by particularly delighted to hear from members of the
Society, or readers of the Journal, if they have material which may be suitable for inclusion in
the normal issues of the Journal or which might constitute the whole of, or a part of, a Special
Issue. It is likely that any Waterloo Special number would include material from any part of the
Napoleonic Wars. Contributions may be either original research on an unfamiliar topic or in the
form of collections of letters, reminiscences or diaries with commentary, Order Books, portraits
or other contemporary pictorial material suitable for the format of the Society’s publications.
Contributions should not have appeared in print elsewhere.
Submissions along these lines would be most welcome. Please contact Andrew Cormack FSA
