Sahabat Pulau is a youth-led, community-based, non-profit organization. Together with local youth, we work to create sustainable action-oriented projects to help addressing some education problems in Indonesia by supporting Indonesian children to further their study. We help and motivate underprivileged children to continue their formal basic education and re-introducing the passion for reading and writing. Our programs enable Indonesian youth to contribute to be a volunteer and serve as the child's mentor, motivator and supporter. Sahabat Pulau was established firstly as Indonesian Youth for Education (IYE) in May 2011. We consist of young generation who shares common interest in the development of education (especially children) in Indonesia. We have been operating since January 2012. www.sahabatpulau.org

SUMMARY
This report is an account of my association with Kotak Education Foundation, along with
other students of ITM, for two weeks (from 10th November to 22nd November, 2014). It
chronicles all our activities as a team of volunteer interns for Kotak Education Foundation during
the aforementioned period.
Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), an NGO formed in 2007 by Mr.Uday Kotak ( Vice
Chairman and Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd), Mrs.Pallavi Kotak and
Mr.Shivaji Dam (Former Director , Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd) , caters to the education and
livelihood needs of the underprivileged section of the society.
In the areas of education KEF has partnered with 30 schools catering to underprivileged students.
In the schools, the foundation teaches spoken English to students of class 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th.
The spoken English program is supported by other programs such as Health, Parenting, School
Teacher's and Principal Development and Scholarship.
Case Study Remedial Reading.docx
The document discusses a remedial reading program called Project BUILD that was established by Ilongbukid National High School to address challenges in reading literacy among students. 10 students were identified as having difficulties with reading comprehension, spelling, and other literacy skills. SOKOLA Literacy Expedition in Papua
SOKOLA aims to address illiteracy in Papua through a literacy expedition program. Over 1.9 million people in Papua are illiterate. SOKOLA visited villages and found high illiteracy rates and lack of access to schools. The expedition will involve researchers assessing needs and two teachers providing literacy education in selected villages from September to November 2013. Funds are being raised to support transportation, accommodations, and publishing results of the research.

This research aims to improve the speaking proficiency of 5th grade students at SD Negeri Mendungan 2 Yogyakarta by utilising dolanan bocah (traditional games) in the learning process. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this action research are the 5th grade students of SD Negeri Mendungan 2 Yogyakarta in the academic year 2015/2016. There were 30 students consisting of 16 female and 14 male students in the study. This study differs from previous research. This can be seen from the research action research that integrates dolanan bocah in learning Bahasa Indonesia. The implementation of dolanan bocah corresponds with a significant improvement in the students’ speaking proficiency. The improvement can be evidenced by the disparity of scores obtained in cycle I and II. In the first cycle, the average score was 71.9 with a classical completeness of 63.3%, while in cycle II, the average score increased to 82.4 with a classical completeness of 83.3%.ECCD KISUMU HOMA BAY BONDO

Between 2011 and 2016, PCI implemented an early childhood development project in Botswana that delivered programs to orphans and vulnerable children while integrating gender and HIV/AIDS education. The project established 17 structured playgroups including one in the isolated village of Mmakanke, where over 20 children met weekly for play and basic education led by volunteer mothers. This gave children in remote areas social interaction and cognitive stimulation that was otherwise limited due to long distances between homes. The playgroups aimed to improve children's development and quality of life as part of PCI's strategy to focus on those under age 3, the most critical period for brain growth.

- 4. Who We Are Sahabat Pulau is a youth-led, community-based, non-profit organization. Together with local youth, we work to create sustainable action-oriented projects to help addressing some education problems in Indonesia by supporting Indonesian children to their further study. We help and motivate underprivileged children to continue their formal basic education and re-introducing the passion for reading and writing. Our programs enable Indonesian youth to contribute to be a volunteer and serve as the child’s mentor, motivator and supporter. Sahabat Pulau was established firstly as Indonesian Youth for Education (IYE) in May 2011. We consist of young generation who share common interest in the development of education (especially for children) in Indonesia. We have been operating since January 2012. Now, we already have 12 “Rumah Baca Harapan” in six different provinces, 112 candidates of ‘Kakak Asuh’ and 102 candidates of ‘Adik Asuh’ from all over Indonesia.
