Over the last decade, more than half a million people have died in floods, cyclones, earthquakes, and tsunamis in South-East Asia, with health facilities often collapsing when communities need them most after disasters. Governments in South-East Asia have committed to ensuring health facilities, old and new, can withstand disasters through strong structures, contingency plans, and emergency-trained staff to save thousands of lives. WHO is campaigning for safe hospitals by testing people's reaction times on Facebook and their website to build public support for action.
