Online Learning Management System (LMS)
Our Aviation English curriculum is designed to train current and aspiring aviation professionals.
Most of the coursework is designed for 'selfstudy'. Students are registered and trained via one of
our LMS websites. An LMS site hosts all the courses, student registrations, quizzes, and grades.
Our LMS supports audio/visual content as well as Speech Recognition. The speech recognition
module allows automatic evaluation of the speaking abilities of our student.
All courses are divided in small modules/sections. Each of these sections include audio/visual
and graphic content to help out English learners with varying capabilities. The timed quizzes are
also part of the curriculum that help students to keep track of their progress. Some quizzes are
writing exercises that are manually graded by instructors.
As noted above, we also provide speech recognition system for practice of correct and clear
English pronunciation. Ours is the ONLY online training course offering this novel technology for
practicing and getting automatic feedback on the spoken capabilities of our students.
Some students may require oneonone sessions with the instructors. Our instructors maintain
online calendars within the course for the students to book extra help appointments. We have
found that the use of Skype / Google Hangouts for those parts of the course is the most effective
medium.

Aviation English Placement Test
We work with students with varying levels of previously acquired English language
capabilities. We have learned that it is very important that we place our students at the right
level of rigor for two reasons.  Firstly, to determine the level of competency and skill they
currently possess and secondly to enable our instructors to plan interactive lessons which aid
the areas of weaknesses and boost overall communication skills. Students not recommended
to enroll in Aviation English courses are asked to take English as a Second Language (ESL)
classes first.
Our Aviation English Placement Test (AEPT) is designed to test students from different angles
with varying levels of difficulty. We test the students for basic and advance grammar, reading
comprehension (see example below), writing abilities, and some advanced level skills. Based
on the outcome of the AEPT, instructors recommend the right course or prerequisite courses.
In most cases the AEPT is the first thing a student will go through.

ATC 2 Pilot Communication Course with Speech Recognition
Our course for pilots consists of focused material on
listening and comprehension, and speaking and
pronunciation. The course is designed as a self-study
program. It can also be integrated with an existing
class-room course with specific points at which
instructor review is required to focus on pronunciation,
terminology and comprehension. The listening
sections are immersive and accompany airport plates,
ATC instructions, testing the pilot with their
comprehension. The sections with Speech Recognition
continue the comprehension scenarios with tests that
ask the students to record their responses. These
responses are automatically analyzed in a few seconds
and graded. Students also see detailed analysis to
focus on certain parts of the words and sentences.

Sneak Peek: A Module of Aviation English
The course is divided into "Lessons". These lessons
gradually become more complex. Each lesson is
composed of 'bite-sized' sections that provide
manageable work load for self-study.
The sections are
focused on
aviation specific
terms and concepts.
For each lesson individual
sessions can be scheduled
with the instructor for
practice. These
interactive sessions
develop confidence and
provide a chance for the
instructor to identify and
work on areas that need
more work.

Students record and review their
pronunciation based on standard
responses. Once satisfied, students, can
press the 'CHECK' button to upload and
check the recording against an 'Expert'
recording.
To help
with the pronunciation, the response
is broken down into individual
phonemes for both the student as
well as the Expert Audio. Students
are given feedback on what part of
the words they need to work on.
The Speech Recognition system
analyzes the student's recording in a
few seconds and responds with a
score. The system also
provides sample
of student recording
analyzed, the reference
'Expert Audio' recording and a
numerical score for both students
and teachers.
