Today our goals are to discuss what STaR is, where we are on the STaR Chart, where we want to be on the STaR Chart, and conclude with ideas of how to move in the direction that we decide that we want to be.
What is a STaR Chart? Well, it has nothing to do with your astrological reading of the day.
STaR stands for School Technology and Readiness
As a faculty, where do you think we are currently related to the 4 areas designated for assessment by STaR? (conversation)
For the past 3 years, Diboll Primary has not moved. We are no better or no worse than we were before. In all 4 areas, we are what I would call below average.
Just like you, I do not want to be below average. I do not even like being average. So the question is, what do we do to get our stars aligned on the STaR Chart?
I know this is a picture of the Jr. High Salad Bar. All of our pictures have students pictures in them. (I cannot put them on the web. I hope this shows you that I can transfer a digital picture.) I do know that we want all of these happy smiling faces to be ready for 21 st century jobs, and it starts here at Diboll Primary. In your folder, I have given you a hand out called the Campus Statewide Summary by Key Area. I would like for you to look over the descriptions of the key areas, and see what you think as a faculty we can do this year to start moving us up. (conversation/make list on chart paper)
If you would like to learn more about the STaR Chart, my presentation is online. I’ve placed a hyperlink there for you.
In conclusion, remember, if you want more information on STaR, just go to. (click Navigation Icon) I look forward to all of the ways that we will get ourselves out of Number 2 for next year.
