Gestational diabetes has implications for both mother and child with risk of complications during pregnancy, and type 2 diabetes later in life. This paper presents the initial lessons learned from the development of a clinical registry. The aims of the Registry are: 1) 100% successful diabetes screening within 3 months of delivery; 2) Annual type 2 diabetes screening; 3) Early warning in subsequent pregnancies.
We have employed the openEHR standard which underpins our national interoperability reference architecture to represent the dataset and also to build the web-based registry system. Use of this rigorous methodology to tackle health information is expected to ensure semantic consistency of Registry data and maximise interoperability with other Sector projects. The development work has been facilitated by the ability to transform the dataset automatically into software code – ensuring clinical requirements accurately translated into technical terms.
Dataset has been finalised, registry system has been developed and deployed for pilot implementation. Data entry is underway for participants after consenting.
This registry is expected to increase the screening of women leading to earlier detection of diabetes. It should provide a valuable picture of the condition and is intended for extension and wider roll-out after evaluation.
The impact of National Bowel Cancer Screening Program in Australia
The full rollout of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP), offering free biennial screening using immunochemical Fecal Occult Blood Test (iFOBT) for 50-74 years is targeted for 2020. In 2013-14, the overall participation rate among Australians who were invited to participate was 36%.

Assess the use of telecardiology platform

Teleradiology in Africa
Teleradiology has been used in Africa to provide radiology services to remote areas. A retrospective study reviewed teleradiology cases in Africa and found that 37% had significant health diseases based on the radiology findings. The study also found that 8% of the pediatric cases were at high risk for disease if ignored. The conclusions were that teleradiology can enable early detection and accurate diagnosis, improve patient outcomes, decrease the spread of infection, and reduce overall healthcare costs.

This article summarizes the results of a study that tested the fade resistance of lithographic inks in real-world outdoor exposures in Florida and Arizona, and how those results compared to accelerated laboratory testing using a xenon arc method. The real-world exposures showed a wide range in fade resistance between different ink colors and formulations. The laboratory xenon arc testing was found to closely mimic the real-world results in terms of ranking ink performance and degradation patterns, while providing results much faster than the outdoor exposures. The study establishes outdoor and laboratory xenon arc testing as effective methods for evaluating ink fade resistance.

Rare Diseases SA has been actively improving the quality of life for those impacted by Rare Diseases over the last 5 years.
Our key focus areas have remained advocacy, patient navigation and community engagement, and through these strategic objectives we have successfully managed to see positive impact in our community.
From the development of over 80 patient connect points, to the implementation of a mobile app, RDSA has ensured patients remain supported and connected whilst the organization remains focused on our advocacy efforts.
The successful roll-out of our Rare Assist service has also seen a reduction in out of pocket costs for patients in the private sector.
We have attached our 5 year impact report which demonstrates some of the impact our work has had within our community. We have also included our programme overview of the Rare Assist Programme.

Immediate Implant Placement
This case report describes immediate placement of a dental implant in the socket of an extracted fractured maxillary incisor tooth. The tooth was extracted atraumatically without flap reflection and the implant was immediately placed, achieving primary stability. A provisional restoration was placed for temporization. At the 4 month follow-up, an impression was made and a definitive restoration placed. The patient exhibited no clinical or radiographic complications after 1 year of follow-up, demonstrating that immediate implant placement can preserve hard and soft tissues while providing immediate esthetics, function, and comfort.
