Aside from his professional duties, Mohamad Khawandanah enjoys watching sports, and avidly supports the Oklahoma City Thunder.

2. Introduction
• Upon completing a fellowship in hematology and
oncology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences
Center, Mohamad Khawandanah accepted an assistant
professor position at the school. Aside from his
professional duties, Mohamad Khawandanah enjoys
watching sports, and avidly supports the Oklahoma City
Thunder.
The Oklahoma City Thunder started the 2014-2015
season without two key players: Russell Westbrook and
Kevin Durant. At the end of November, Westbrook
rejoined the lineup after recovering from a fractured
right hand, and scored 32 points and totaled eight assists
in a decisive victory over the New York Knicks.

• Since then, he has averaged 26.9 points and 6.9
assists per game.
Kevin Durant has also returned, following an
offseason foot surgery. Coach Scott Brooks stated
that he would limit Durant’s playing time to 30
minutes until he regains his former level of fitness.
The reigning league MVP has averaged 22.4 points,
5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists since the beginning of
December, and has led the Thunder to win seven of
their last nine games. With their record now 12-14,
the Thunder rank second in the northwest division
behind Portland.
