4. The Romance of urban Decay
Coco Chanel once stated quot;fashion is not something that exists in dresses only.
Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live,
what is happening.
That notion is at the heart of the unique collaboration between Buffalo State College
and the Burchfield Penny Art Center in presenting Runway 2.0-a fashion show that
draws thematic inspiration from the Charles Burchfield exhibition, The Romance of
Urban Decay.
Set against the panoramic backdrop of the Burchfield Penney's East Gallery, Runway
2.0 features the collections of Buffalo State College Fashion Program students and
professional Western New York designers.
But as Coco Channel's words suggest, the evening stands to be more then simply a
celebration of what we wear. It will be an exploration of who we are. And the spirit
of Charles Burchfield. It will reflect the allure of a city and the subtle beauty that
emerges as her buildings and streets grow old.
