This document discusses sales milestones and forecasting in CRM. It outlines the seven essential sales milestones known as the "Magnificent 7" that must be completed in order for a deal to be financially forecast. These milestones include initial contact, needs analysis, initial meeting/demo, evaluation/POC, commercial agreement, technically complete POC, and in purchasing. It also outlines three forecast categories - pipeline, most likely, and worst case - that define the likelihood of a deal closing by a certain date based on which sales milestones have been completed. The document states that properly following the sales milestones approach will improve hit rates over relying on luck.

The quarterly report discusses Ericsson's financial results for the second quarter of 2016. Sales were down 11% compared to the second quarter of 2015 due to negative industry trends impacting demand for mobile broadband. Margins improved for Global Services but declined for Networks and Support Solutions. Ericsson outlined additional actions to reduce costs, with the goal of lowering annual operating expenses to SEK 53 billion by the second half of 2017. The report provides an overview of financial results by segment and region, and notes that current weak sales trends are expected to continue in the second half of 2016.
There is a growing need for infrastructure sharing in Africa to meet increasing demand for mobile connectivity as populations and usage grow rapidly. Traditional approaches where each mobile operator builds and maintains their own towers is inefficient and costly. The independent tower company (TowerCo) model provides the highest level of efficiencies by consolidating infrastructure ownership and maintenance under a single entity, reducing costs for operators through infrastructure sharing, and generating capital that can be reinvested in expanding coverage. TowerCos focus on maximizing infrastructure utilization through active marketing and service level agreements to improve quality of service at lower cost compared to alternatives where operators maintain independent tower networks.
This document summarizes challenges to social accountability and service delivery in Pakistan based on a perception survey and interviews. It finds that while respondents understand their entitlements to basic services, the lack of trust in government and need for improved grievance mechanisms are issues. Over half the population lacks formal education, so communities must be trained in social accountability. Civil society organizations face security threats that impact their work. While challenges exist, support from government and donors for local CSOs provides hope for mitigating threats to social accountability interventions.

Evolving Service Provider Business ModelsYankee Group
The irrational exuberance of the Enron era led many communications service providers (CSPs) to financial ruin, and paying penance for past excesses consumed the first decade of the 21st century. But Yankee Group argues that it's time to shed the hair shirt.

Building Heuristic ARchitecture for Artificial InTelligence (BHARAT) NLP with...Ekta Grover
I had the opportunity to represent Inmobi at BHARAT NLP workshop, which is a NITI Aayog initiative towards the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in India. NITI is a policy think tank of the Government of India which aims at sustainable development goals.
The goal of the workshop was to architect a single access point repository of NLP tools for Indic languages. This would lower the entry barrier for delivery of dynamic content in Indic languages and in-turn make the products and services accessible in all Indic languages and their user-base.
To facilitate this, we had interactive sessions with leading academics, industry experts, and startups working across NLP use-cases - which finally culminated into each of us breaking out in group discussions, coming up with the design - and presenting our architecture & insights.
This work is the sum total of our learnings as a group.

Competition a potent tool for economic development and Socio - Economic welfareEkta Grover
This document discusses competition as both an economic development tool and a potential source of socio-economic disruption. It notes that competition can accelerate GDP growth and job creation while also increasing consumer choice and surplus. However, it also argues that cut-throat competition can encourage unfair practices, reduce long-term investment in innovation, and disproportionately benefit competitive sectors over uncompetitive ones. The document uses the examples of agriculture, aviation, manufacturing and real estate to illustrate how competition must be "workable" and balanced to promote inclusive growth across all sectors of the economy. It poses that competition policy should aim for economic, allocative and dynamic efficiency through fostering cooperation, information sharing and supporting transitional sectors.
The rise of Social Capital and collapse of traditional Market Signalling Ekta Grover

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
