Titus 1
1. Paul left Titus in Crete to appoint elders in every town and put in order what was left unfinished.
2. An elder must be blameless, faithful to their spouse, have faithful children, and have a good reputation. They must not be arrogant, quick-tempered, violent, or pursue dishonest gain.
3. There are many in Crete who must be rebuked for teaching things they should not and disrupting households for dishonest gain. Their minds and consciences are corrupted.
Romans 11
The document discusses God's relationship with Israel and argues that God did not reject his people of Israel. It states that some of the branches of Israel were broken off due to unbelief, while gentiles were grafted onto the olive tree by faith. Romans 16a Love and Friendship
Paul commends Phoebe, a servant of the church, who delivered the letter to the Romans. He instructs the Romans to receive her as a saint and assist her as needed. Paul then greets and expresses thanks for several people who helped him in his ministry, including Priscilla and Aquila who risked their lives for him, a church that met in their house, and others who labored for the Lord. Paul closes by greeting many more people and instructing the Romans to greet one another with a holy kiss.
Solo or together
Aquila and Priscilla were a married couple who worked together in ministry, providing support to Paul and others. They demonstrated the importance of having a support system in Christian work. Specifically:
- They supported Paul when he came to Corinth by letting him stay with them and work alongside them.
- They traveled with Paul to Ephesus and helped Apollos further in his understanding of Christianity after overhearing him preach.
- Churches often met in their home and they were well-respected ministers mentioned in several letters.
- Their partnership illustrates how working with others, rather than alone, allows Christians to accomplish more and support one another. They served as role models of generosity, hospitality,

The early church was divided on whether Gentile believers needed to be circumcised. Paul and Barnabas were sent to Jerusalem to discuss this with the apostles and elders. At a council, Peter argued that God had accepted Gentiles through faith alone, as shown by giving them the Holy Spirit, and they should not be burdened with Jewish laws. The council agreed and sent a letter to Gentile churches saying to abstain from idolatry, sexual immorality, meat from strangled animals, and blood, but not requiring circumcision. The churches were joyous about this encouraging message of acceptance.
