WHAT HAPPENED
• On 22 December 1989, Romania’s communist leader and
Dictator Nicolae Ceausescu was overthrown in a violent
revolution and Feld from the capital, Bucharest. Three days
later, he and his wife Elena were executed by firing squad. It
was the last of the popular uprisings against communist rule in
eastern Europe that year.

WAR OR REVOLUTION
• In my opinion it is a revolution
because it was a period of
violent civil unrest in Romania in
December 1989 and was a part
of the many revolutions that
occurred in several other
countries.
• The revolution has started on
16th December 1989 – 25
December 1989.

WHAT ARE THE BASIC
FACTORS
• Ban of going outside the borders
of the country.
• Living conditions were poor and
were unhealthy.
• High tension and high population
change.
• There were also many unexpected
reasons for the Romanian
revolution.

• On an international level, all major intelligent service being
active since summer 1989 in Romania – the system had to be
shut down because of the Romanian revolution.
• There were several 1000 tourists from Russia registered since
summer and which never left the country before revolution.
• The role was to ignite fire, and the ignition was made in several
ways – but it highly overcame expectations.
