HISTORY OF THE OBEROI GROUP
The Foundations Of The Oberoi Group Date Back To 1934
when Rai Bahadur Mohan Singh Oberoi , The Founder Of The
Group , Bought Two Properties : The Maidens In Delhi And
The Clarke’s In Shimla.
In The Following Years Oberoi , Assisted By His Two Sons ,
Tilak Raj Singh Oberoi And
Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi Continued The Expansion Of Their
Group With Properties Both In India And Abroad.
OWNERSHIP
The Two Major Holding Companies Of The Oberoi Group Are EIH Ltd And EIH
Associated Hotels ( Formerly East India Hotels ) .
P.R.S. Oberoi Is The Current Chairman Of The Oberoi Group. His Son’s ,
Vikram Singh Oberoi , And
Suresh Oberoi Serve In The Capacities Of The Joint Managing Directors At
The Holding Companies.
Groups
InterContinental Hotels Group , informally InterContinental Hotels or IHG , is s British
multinational hospitality company headquartered in Denham , Buckinghamshire , England.
IHG has about 842,749 guest rooms and 5,656 hotels across nearly 100 countries.
IHG owns several brands , including Regent Hotels & Six Senses Hotels and many more.
HISTORY
Pan American Airways founder Juan Trippe established the American Intercontinental
Hotels chains as a division of Pan Am and opened the first hotel in belem , Brazil in
1946.
On 19 August 1981 , Pan Am sold the holding company Inter-Continental Hotels
Corporation (IHC) to UK-based Grand Metropolitan for $50 million dollar.
In 2003 , the independent corporation InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) was
created after six continents split into two companies: Mitchells & Butlers took
control of the restaurant assets, while IHG focused on hotels and soft drinks.
In April/May 2014 , the company reportedly rejected a10 billion dollar takeover bid
from Starwood.
