MEDIA RELEASE

Ronald McDonald Brings Country to City
Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland (RMHSEQ) is proud to announce that
acclaimed country singer Lee Kernaghan has been appointed as special ambassador for the
Ronald McDonald House South Brisbane Project.
Lee Kernaghan’s role is to encourage the involvement of local Brisbane businesses to raise
funds and participate in sponsorship activities, which will contribute to the much-needed new
house in South Brisbane.
“I hope to rally local businesses to help fundraise the new South Brisbane house, as so many
children need our help,” said Mr Kernaghan.
“It’s such a great charity and the Brisbane business community can raise funds for sick kids
and families who rely on the Ronald McDonald houses.”
Local businesses can help by organising a community fundraiser, which can be as simple as a
sausage sizzle, or the business and stakeholders can volunteer at one of the RMHSEQ houses.
We are incredibly keen to begin working with businesses and it will be such a great
community event,” said RMCSEQ Chairman, Adam Dando.
“You don’t have to be a business with a large profit, you just have to have a large heart.”
(MORE OVER).

RMHSEQ currently has two houses in its sector; one house next to the Mater Children’s and
Mater Mother’s hospitals, and one house next the Royal Brisbane Women’s and Children’s
hospitals at Herston.
Ronald McDonald House Charities is a not-for-profit organisation and all funds raised goes
directly to programs that benefit children, due to McDonalds Australia paying all
administrative and management costs.
There are currently 3 Ronald McDonald houses in Queensland.
RMHSEQ provides a ‘home away from home’ in Brisbane for families with seriously ill
children, who do not have access to the facilities. To find out more information about the
Ronald McDonald House Charities, go to https://www.rmhc.org.au/
There is a photo opportunity available on the 18th April, at 10 am at the construction site of
the future South Brisbane house, where Lee Kernaghan will be posing in a hardhat and shovel,
with the Chairman of RHMSEQ Adam Dando.

Hi Belinda,
I’m Vivienne Luxford, and I work for Ronald McDonald House, South East Queensland
(RMHSEQ) division.
RMHSEQ has just appointed Lee Kernaghan as their new ambassador of the charity, which
hopes to increase local business sponsorship opportunities to fundraise for the new house in
South Brisbane.
I have approached you because I know you have a very strong personal interest in helping
charities. This would appeal to The Courier Mail’s audience, as it is a human-interest story
that involves a celebrated Queensland icon.
I would like to partner with you on this story, so I will be in contact again as soon as possible,
and will pass on additional information.
There will be a photo opportunity with Lee Kernaghan and the Chairman of RHMSEQ, Adam
Dando, outside the development site of the new South Brisbane house, details as specified in
the media release. We will only have a limited time frame at 10am, so please be prompt. I look
forward to seeing you there, Belinda.
Thank you in advance for your time.
Sincerely,
