To Whom It May Concern,
In February 2014, Amelia Piorko was hired by the CICV Benefit Consortium, to serve as Randolph-
Macon College's Health Coach through the Consortium's wellness program. Ms. Piorko brought to the
College a strong background as a registered nurse, health coach and motivational speaker. It wasn't long
before she gained the trust and respect of numerous faculty and staffmembers.
Ms. Piorko is very genuine in her approach, truly caring about the health and wellbeing of her clients and
focusing on the whole person, not just exercise and weight loss. Ms. Piorko meets the employee where
they are in their journey and encourages them with baby steps to take them forward. She is quick to
celebrate the small victories in an employee's progress inspiring them to continue onward toward the
larger goal. Employees have said the following:
o "Since my meetings have begun with Amelia I havte gained a safe/unbiased sounding boardfor
challenges I'mfacing and tools to help with those challenges. The most significant challenge I
have been working on with Amelia is stress. Amelia has provided tools that I use to help cope
with stress - while I am not L00o/o stress free I feel I am better equipped to work through bouts of
high stress. "
"Amelia has been a major help to me in utilizing ways to reduce stress and get reconnected with
"me." She is very passionate about her profession and nuly cares about the wellbeing of her
constituent. Amelia makes herself available to you whenever you hqve a question or concern
outside of her time here at R-MC which can be a greot help and relief in dealing with situations. "
"From the veryfirst meeting, I understood her goals, her role, and I immediatelyfelt comfortable
speaking with her about my personal health. I was very impressed with the positivity and
encouragement she provided at each meeting. Atfollow-up meetings, Ifelt as if I was meeting
with afriend, who really cared about my personal health choices; who encouraged my decisions,
and who supported my choices."
In addition to one-on-one counseling sessions, group programs that have been implemented by Ms.
Piorko include: Healthy Lunch and Learns; Book Club (The Happiness Project); Smoking Cessation,
Monthly Wellness Series where she sought out guest speakers to present on topics such as stress, heart
health, exercise, and nutrition; 8-week Optimal Wellness Program, and being available to do blood
pressure checks at Benefit Fairs.
