So it is said that "Rising tide lifts all the boats"; perhaps yes, but only for those fortunate ones who
are on a boat (those who inherited or made-it), preferably in a "public-funded too-big-to-fail yacht”,
where the rentier-darwinian-self select indulgently play “either way I win” variety of poker.
For those who are in neck-deep water and struggling to stay afloat burdened by natural needs and
induced wants (yes, I am aware of “free-will-choice” - but also versed with grandeur of behavioral-
economics), free-pass is available to the promised land of abundance against a minor-inconvenience
of mortgaged-future-black hole.
Lazy capital will heartily accommodate anyone who is impatient and imprudent enough to fall into
the magnanimous sounding “enjoy now and pay at your convenience” hook-trap, will not even stop
at pensioners or peasants!
Oh you naive member of the 99%, if you are chuckling with your cheap beer oblivious to the
consequences of NPA / default / bankruptcy, we have many a means to get to our money (your savings,
if at all), including your yet to accrue labor, notionally known as future-earnings.
In the name and period of laissez-faire capitalism, we started doctoring community values and opinions,
academia, media, people of consequence and by now, have sorted out most of the legislation, law and
regulations and what is left of consumer rights, we are working on stripping them layer by layer in the
name of “efficient resources deployment”.
And whenever you realize, connect and raise your voice of objection in unison, we have access to even
more substrate means such as taxation and policy instruments, central banks, money supply, interest
rates… including military industrial complex. Oh, the financial illiterate one, the ways in which you are
surrounded!
Remember the words during the congressional hearing of a recent man-made financial crisis by
eminent combination of bankers + policy makers + regulators; enthusiastically supported by the
richly funded academia, when it was asked, “Why the Banks sold cesspool bundle of investments to
it's customers (at times also known as sophisticated investors) as good investment, and later turned
around and bet against the very same investments they sold, that they will fail"?
Answer: "Sir, we were doing God's work"
God must be shuddering in his dreams as to what he ended up creating? And when awake
running for cover or checking his liability insurance!

Fast forward nearly 10 years...
All of the architects are safely ensconced in their respective or alternative positions of comfort and
glory... some have even made it to the policy-making offices!
It is a “pay to play” revolving door Sir, if you didn’t know!
Banks and the insurance companies have been bailed out with long-term public borrowing and "had
to have" recessions / contractions / reduced abilities to meet the needs (not the wants) of the
gullible-masses / shrinking community - social programs and public infrastructure. Systemically
critical and too big to fail (hail the 16th century financial innovation: Limited Liability, if you will)
institutions got even bigger, guaranteeing future bail-outs, floating on blissful moral-hazard.
Obscene salaries and bonuses are back with a vengeance...
If you are thinking of "income vs. expense" then you are the most sought-after sucker, the smart
one's think and act on "asset vs. liabilities", wherein "assets are private" and "liabilities are public"...
founding principles of "evolved capitalism of Darwinian kind"...
We moved away from specie currency since 1974, repealed Glass Steagall Act during Clinton regime
and are furiously hosing down Dodd-Frank Act as well as Basel III, all in the name of efficiency with
reckless faith in the “free market”, a market made up of “mortal, feeble, emotional, guileless, gullible,
forgetful, unscrupulous; along with romanticizing, dreaming, hopeful, wishful human”, where “checks
and balances” are considered to be impediments to the otherwise “Virtuous Capitalism”.
Australia does not wish to be left behind in this mad race, forgetting her history and make-up,
repugnantly sells the family silver, licenses pollution for fistful of cash (defer the consequences to the
yet unborn generation) and has moved on to unraveling the cherished Australian egalitarianism,
stripping the penalty-rate applicable to work during Sabbath, all in the name of employment /
efficiency / growth.
Australia has evolved well through hard-yakka, elbow grease and shared community values /
mateship. Having come thus far, She ought to know that, fair-life can’t compete with indifference to
hunger, dictatorship, tyranny or police-state!
