The document discusses the history of the CDT project from its beginnings within Eclipse to its growth into a large open source project with contributions from many companies. It started with QNX contributing some C/C++ core technology. Summits were held to get involvement from others. Over time, more and more companies like Intel, Nokia, and Google contributed to the project. Through communication and relationship building, the project was able to grow its community of contributors despite challenges.
