This document discusses Richard Turere's experience growing up as a Maasai boy in Kenya and how he invented a way to scare lions using flashing lights. As a child, Richard helped herd his father's cows and felt afraid of lions that would prey on them. He had the idea to use car lights and a battery to scare lions by making the lights flash automatically near the cowshed at night. This method worked successfully and has now protected Richard's family and other families in his community from lions for several years. Richard's invention is now being used in other areas and has helped save not only cows but human lives as well. He has received opportunities to share his story because of his innovative solution to an important problem.
