Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) are web-based applications that have more functionality than standard web applications, allowing them to have desktop-like usability within a web browser. A Forrester Research report found that the majority of online consumers who used RIAs felt they greatly enhanced the web experience by providing more robust functionality compared to traditional HTML applications and pushing the capabilities of standard web technologies.
