Introduction
The intentof thisprojectRequestforProposal istoleadto the outfittingof ClaremontHigh School’s
resistance trainingequipmenttosupport itsStrengthandConditioning andPhysical Educationprograms.By
providingourobjectives,assumptionsandconstraints,we anticipatethateachmanufacturer/distributor
whoparticipateswill best creativelymeetthemgivendifferencesinequipmenttechnologyandsolutions.
We will thenevaluatetheseproposalsonhow welltheymeetourobjectives,expense involvedandwhatwe
feel isthe bestconfigurationtomeetourneeds.
An Excel file isprovidedtoenteryourproposal.ColumnsGthroughR needonlybe filledoutfor“Systems”
and notfor the componentsthatwill make upthat system.The Excel file hasanexample enteredto
illustrate the expectationsof howitwouldbe filledout(thiscanbe deleted).
We alsolookforwardto a graphicillustrationof the equipmentlayoutwithinthe roomanda documentthat
explainshowyourproposal of equipmentandlayoutbestachievesthe objectives.Alsodetail whya
particularline item(excel file) solutionmaybettermeetourobjectivesascomparedtootherpossible
solutionsasyousee fit.
Project Objectives
The scope of thisrequestforproposal isfor resistance trainingequipment.Equipmentsuchasflooring,
aerobic, plyometric,speedandagility,andaccessoriessuchaspowerbands,weightliftingbelts, andolympic
bar collarswill be quotedseparately.Pleaseindicateif these are alsoareasyousupplyandare interestedin
proposingseparately.
Objectives:
Maximize the numberof studentathletepairs(lifterandspotter) performingthe same exercise routine
(upperbody/lowerbodyorleg,back,chestroutines) simultaneously (inparallel)andaspossible inthe room
size; focusingon compound “core/multi-joint”,“structural”,“power”“assistance”exercises”withisolation
exercisesassecondary.
Supportstrengthandrehabilitation/reconditioningwiththe laterbeingasmall percentage of the time and
onlyone or twoathletesata time.
Achieve the bestbenefit forthe costin termsof providingthe greatestdegree of exercisecoverage and
utility of equipmentforitsfootprint. Thiswill require the prioritizationinthe type of exercisesandthe
specificityof the equipmentin supportingonlyone movement(isolated) forexample:
Whencomparinga “counterbalancedsmithmachine”toa “pin selectionmultifunctionchest
machine”forrehabilitation/reconditioning,the smithmachine providesthe functionalityof the pin
select,butalsooffersthree otherexercise options.

SupportbothStrengthand Physical Education(fromaresistance exerciseperspective).The effectivenessof
StrengthandConditioningaswell asthe effectivenessof Physical Educationshouldnotbe compromisedasa
resultof equipmentchoice. Forexample,if powerracksare an appropriate solutionforStrengthand
Conditioningwherebya45lb.olympicbar maybe tooheavyfor a particularstudentsize andgender, a
weightbarset(i.e.10lb,15lb, 20lb, 30lb, etc) wouldbe an appropriate solutiontosupportingmulti-joint
exercisesbysimplyprovidinganadequate weight. These typesof solutionsshouldbe made inthe notesfor
the equipmentsolutionastheywillbe quotedseparately. Considerationwill needtobe made forexercises
such as pull-upswhere aPE studentorsmall athlete maynotbe able to lifttheirownbodyweight.

impede achievinganoptimal ormaximal resistance trainingdesignandmeetingthe statedobjectives,

Withinyourdesign/equipment proposal,the followingare tobe includedata minimum (notlimitedto):
One “counterbalancedsmithmachine”istobe included.
PowerRack(s) of some configurationthatmeetsthe objectivesis(are) tobe includedwith atleast
the optionsof “spotting”,“powerband”and “wide and narrow pull-upbar”.Otheroptionsmaybe
consideredastheymeetthe objectives.

Dumbbellsare tobe Urethane coatedand provide arange of weightfrom5lbsto 100lbs.
Achieve the greatestnumberof athlete pairsthatcan be performingthe same exercise routine (upper
