Amstelveen review on visiting Landlife and parks in Liverpool Visit in may 2010
Groen Amstelveen in vogelvlucht
Meeting with Landlife
Meeting at the Wildflower Centre
A sunny day at the parks

Overall impression + * great potential levels mature trees monumental parts historic atmosphere * active and very enthusiastic friendgroups/volunteers * spreading through the city of Liverpool like a green carpet, the city looks very green * you charish every living part
Overall impression - based mostly upon 2 “layers”: grass and trees * you charish every living object (dare to cut!) * cultivated look: short grass and lollipop trees * using special flowers and trees on special grounds * long term target vision plan and maintenance translation? * continuum of volunteers is precious * budget hardly enough for sober maintenance level based upon daily maintenance no rehabilitation budgets/sustainable financial policy * integral policy? (sports, traffic, economy)

St. James Gardens
Some advise for St. James Garden Promenade: more open (trees) and less ridges of clippings Give the roses more space, planting more at random Mahonia and Ricinus disturb the natural atmosphere South end: cutting more trees for sunlight Lower grass land: Geranium phaeum , Campanula, Narcissus Catacombes: wall needs sunlight, cut Beechtrees down/leave one and prune Trees in middle: make choices for solitars (like mourning trees) and plant new trees! Litter: not enough bins

The princess park
Some advise for Princesspark Boggy area: Leucojum aestivum, Geum rivale, Marshorchids, Thalictrum flavum, Ajuga reptans, Caltha palustris, Fritillaria melaeagris, Spiraea uliginosa Make it look more natural, don’t add cultural parts Adding of shrubbing on the right side for rooming effect Tree level, make a wave at the top Grass level up Future plan with a translation for maintenance New planted shrubs, start with cutting and pruning Dogowners on the lead! Get a center explorer (kiosk, shop)

Some advise for the Sudley park Charish the views and make it more various, playing with trees Less regular straight grass cuttings Why do not let the branches stay to trees stems? Lolipop Enriching the grass with flowering plants

The Everton Park
Some advise for the Everton park Quarry: seeding of plants, no picnick Charish views, cut and replanting trees (popular, conifers) School: lower the ground ridge and cut some of the trees and conifers around, schoolplots Wildflower meadows near collonade, put chalk on it and wildflower seeds Cut costs by cutting less grass Make a few highlights in the park to attract people, make choices and stick with it Turn the huge fountain area into a playing ground and pond with wild flowers Get economic motors (housing/projects) into the area

Some advise for the walled garden Less surface of waterplants in the ponds Cut some shrubs so there is more light for wild flowers More variety in “wall” of shrubs by pruning

Thanks for your hospitality and the great atmosphere!
