PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Department of Mathematical Science, Claremont Graduate University Mar 2015 - May 2015
Independent Study under the supervision of Assistant Professor Qidi Peng
Studied two sets of real data from one Lancôme store’s weekly sales items using R program, in order to find a best fitted model for each
data set
Used a 3-degree polynomial regression model and a Gaussian random variable to manipulate missing data points
Applied data transformation to avoid the effect of outliers and the inaccuracy of prediction models because of the fact that all data are
positive integers
Developed several ARIMA models and a Holt-Winter model for each data set and used the validation set approach to preliminarily test the
accuracy of each prediction model
Compared the Holt-Winter model with two appropriate ARIMA models and applied k-fold cross validation approach to find the best fitted
model for each data set
Department of Actuarial Research, Taikang Life Insurance Co., LTD, Beijing, China Jun 2014 - Aug 2014
Analyst Associate, Summer Internship
Researched the financial data of Taikang Life and another five listed Chinese life insurance companies to prepare for preliminary valuation
of Taikang Life’s IPO
Conducted an industrial analysis comparing these six companies to understand the current market condition of China’s life insurance
industry and Taikang Life’s position in the market
Developed three different valuation models to estimate Taikang Life’s present market value and potential IPO price based on financial data
achieved
Analyzed the trend of the five listed companies’ stock prices from Jan 2009 to Jun 2014 to investigate how and why their stocks performed
differently on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange
Studied how the differences between the listed companies’ management strategies affected their stock prices to evaluate the impact of
Taikang Life’s strengths and weaknesses on its IPO price per share
Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering, Discovery Park, Purdue University Jun 2012 - Aug 2012
Actuarial Science Student Researcher, Summer Research
Used National Inpatient Sample of 2008 & 2009 (HCUP) to estimate the Prevention Quality Indicator (PQI) of COPD for both the U.S. and
Indiana using SAS program
Analyzed historical PQI rates which identified major drivers to emphasize future improvements
Developed a Logistic Regression Model in order to further investigate and predict PQI rates. Worked in collaboration with undergraduate
researchers, sharing methodology to ensure consistent results
Delivered a professional presentation to the fellows at Regenstrief and developed a detailed research report to conclude studies
Investment Research Department, Nanjing Securities Co., Nanjing, China Jun 2011 - Aug 2011

and impacts of China’s housing bubble on China’s economy
