Yongshuai Ping is a male mechanical engineering graduate student from China seeking an entry-level position. He has a Bachelor's degree from Zhejiang University of Technology and is pursuing a Master's degree from Wayne State University with a 3.77 GPA. His coursework includes advanced engineering design, finite element methods, and mechanics of composite materials. For his design project, he helped develop a new brake pedal design for a Formula SAE race car. He has experience in computer-aided design programs and leadership roles in student organizations. His objective is to find a job in the US and achieve his potential.
The University Innovation Fellows are part of a national movement to ensure that students gain the necessary attitudes, skills and knowledge required for them to compete in the economy of the future. These student leaders from schools around the country work with their peers to catalyze even greater levels of innovation and entrepreneurship activity on their campuses.
The program is run by the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter), funded by the National Science Foundation as a partnership between Stanford University and the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA). University Innovation Fellows call on engineering students and their peers to dream, design and deliver innovations that solve real-world problems.

2. PERSONAL EXPERIENCES
I was born in a beautiful city, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. When I was a child, my
parents ran the fruit business. I helped my parents in the holidays when they were busy. That
experience made me learn how to communicate with strangers.
During the primary school, I was particularly interested in mechanical engineering. In the
meanwhile, I took part in some competitions, such as, radio direction finding, electronic puzzle and so
on.
When I was in junior high school, because of moving home, my parents changed their career and
began to run the hotel. All kinds of people came to the hotel, and I had more opportunities to
communicate with different kinds of people. This experience broaden my horizons.
Because of the long distance between home and school, I chose to live in the dormitories of high
school, which make me independent. When I met a problem, I would try to solve it on my own.
During the University, I participated the University Dramatics Society. I enjoyed working in a
team. And my GPA ranked in the top ten percent. A university professor encouraged me to study
abroad for a master's degree. My parents were always cool and supported me.
Then I applied for Wayne State University in the United States, and was successfully admitted. I
also got a good GPA for my master’s degree.
Right now, I am moving on to a bigger goal. I want to find a suitable job in the United States and
achieve my own value.
