FINAL YEAR PROJECT
CFD MODELLING OF SYNGAS COMBUSTION IN A CAN COMBUSTOR USING
NON PRE-MIXED MODEL
 To comprehend the effect to emission and combustor performance from utilizing
various compositions of syngas fuel and lower heating value.
 The can combustor is modeled using SolidWork and been converted to IGS
 Meshing, selection of boundary condition and simulation been done in ANSYS
Workbench 14.5 (Fluent)
 Methane result will be used as a baseline for comparison with syngas fuel
combustion.
 The selected syngas is El-Dorado, Pernis, Fife and Piemsa.
 The k-ε model for turbulent flow, mixture fractions/PDF model for non-premixed gas
ignition, and P-1 radiation model are the mathematical models utilized for syngas
fuel.
 The obtained upcoming shows that the gas turbines can combustor performance
were changing when replacing the source from natural gas to syngas fuels.
