WORK EXPERIENCE
Groundman
Arbor Bros.Tree Care and Removal - Williamsburg, VA - January 1990 to December 2014
Responsibilities
Estimated prices, filled out contracts with customers. Maintained equipment. I ran the ropes to lower branches
and wood safely. I untied the ropes, pulled them back up to the climber, dragged and cut up the brush, fed the
chipper, loaded wood, hauled trailers, operated bucket trucks, both in the air and on the ground.I advised the
climbers of unseen possible problems, and the setting up for next cut from my point of view. Always working
non stop. Keeping work area clear of hazards, ropes safely in proper position, all plants and shrubs moved or
protected from falling debris. Keeping saws gassed and oiled. Sharpening chains so they cut like butter.
I delegated between workers and different crews, organized time and work load. I maintained tool safety ( and
repair when required).
Overall....I took care of all the ground work while the climber set up for next operation in tree. From clearing
the work area to perform work order.... till final clean up and raking;for a look as if " we were never there".
(Clean up is most important for repeat and word of mouth customers).
Accomplishments
I am experienced and know how to properly operate all types of tools and equipment from chain saws to
stump grinders.
I pride myself on the speed and skill with which I can safely operate chainsaws cutting anything from brush
to huge trunks of trees.
I can throw a tree " on X marks the spot " as well as having the knowledge to use other nearby trees as
"cranes", using them to lower tree parts with and to use for zip lines. Am very good at determining the best
takedown procedure for any given tree.
I work hard to quickly and safely complete the job order and have very good "public relations" skills as well.
Skills Used
Customer relations, deplomacy, thiinking ahead to future moves to accomplish jobs more effieciantly, hard work
inspires co workers.
I am very good at sharpening saw blades and cutting up wood safely with as little damage as possible to the
chain or property.
Different types of trees respond differently to the same operation....I have experienced and learned all these
sometimes difficult to foresee tangibles.
In the past I have learned much in the way of landscaping and shrub care, as well as plant upkeep.
I have been responsible for operating a bucket truck trimming trees for preventative maintenance and overall
health and appearance of the tree. I've lowered large limbs and sections without property damage from trees
overhanging homes, driveways, swimming pools,etc
I have taken down dead trees in some very tricky spots as well. I'm also quite experienced with lawn care
and all the tools of the trade.
