Invited Lecture on “Complementary nature of conventional and digital library in modern information dissemination system” on 22nd December at NIRJAFT, ICAR Kolkata
Whether traditional libraries or digital library or a judicious combination of those two will stay in the years to come or not- it is not only difficult to answer but also paradoxical to our socio-economic and cultural priorities. But whatever form survives or whatever policy has made for their sustenance in the future it must be aimed at holistic societal progress and reflect the aspiration of the community they serve.

Data Centers - Striving Within A Narrow Range - Research Report - MCG - May 2...pchutichetpong
M Capital Group (“MCG”) expects to see demand and the changing evolution of supply, facilitated through institutional investment rotation out of offices and into work from home (“WFH”), while the ever-expanding need for data storage as global internet usage expands, with experts predicting 5.3 billion users by 2023. These market factors will be underpinned by technological changes, such as progressing cloud services and edge sites, allowing the industry to see strong expected annual growth of 13% over the next 4 years.
Whilst competitive headwinds remain, represented through the recent second bankruptcy filing of Sungard, which blames “COVID-19 and other macroeconomic trends including delayed customer spending decisions, insourcing and reductions in IT spending, energy inflation and reduction in demand for certain services”, the industry has seen key adjustments, where MCG believes that engineering cost management and technological innovation will be paramount to success.
MCG reports that the more favorable market conditions expected over the next few years, helped by the winding down of pandemic restrictions and a hybrid working environment will be driving market momentum forward. The continuous injection of capital by alternative investment firms, as well as the growing infrastructural investment from cloud service providers and social media companies, whose revenues are expected to grow over 3.6x larger by value in 2026, will likely help propel center provision and innovation. These factors paint a promising picture for the industry players that offset rising input costs and adapt to new technologies.
According to M Capital Group: “Specifically, the long-term cost-saving opportunities available from the rise of remote managing will likely aid value growth for the industry. Through margin optimization and further availability of capital for reinvestment, strong players will maintain their competitive foothold, while weaker players exit the market to balance supply and demand.”

Senior Statistician, Project Manager, SAS programmer, Predictive/Prescriptive/Forecasting
modeler in HP. Always looking for efficiency improvement in terms time and quality.
Work Experience
2007 – Now:HP as Statistician, Data Modeler, Forecasting and Analyst Expert – worked on automated
Forecasting, Data Mining, Text Mining, Data Modeling, Campaign Analytics, Market study, Competitor
Benchmarking, Life Cycle Rate Modeling. Exposure to database tools like Vertica,Oracle, and SQL
Server. Visualization tool: Tableau, Analytics Tool: SAS, R. Key Highlights
- Train people in SAS Methodologies, R-Methodologies to onboard on this advanced statistical
tool
- Mentor and consultancy on Statistical technique and Data handling used
- Machine learning on service ticket life cycle
- Tableau/Power BI dashboard development
- Worked on Product Quality domain, Customer Support domain, Warranty Domain, Product
Life Cycle, Customer Life Cycle and Customer touchpoint analysis
- Trained Project Management Specialist
2005:worked in Infosys as Data Mining Researcher,SAS and Analytics lead
2006:worked in IASRI as RA,SAS, Research
Analytics Projects
L3-L4 Analytics:Call center operations metrics L4 to customer matric L3 correlations and building
predictive model to study the relationships between call centers metric to customer perception of the HP
metric. HP has roughly 1 billion customer base. 15-20 % of the customer faces some issues during the
warranty periods of their products and around 25% customer seeks supports at overall warranty level.
Using big data analytics technique we merge the L3 data and L4 data. Survey response is around 20%
resulting to 5% of the customer bases i.e. 0.05 billion customer. Mostly SEM model has been used to get
the effects and factor modelling is used to get the prediction model. (SAS, Vertica,Oracle)
Goal Setting:HP constantly monitored 100 different metrics on constant basis. Based on bench marking
study and current level of performance we arrived at the SMART goal. A scenario based tool has been
developed to assist the business managers to set a smart goal to fine tune the given goal based on the
customer care center or region he leads. (SAS, Excel)
Customer Life Cycle Touch Point Analysis:To study the customer behavior from pre sales marketing
campaign, Purchase experience,Install experience, use experience and call support/repair support
2. experience Neilson conducted survey for overall customer base who touches all the experiences in last 2
years. Net promoter scores of the brand has been studied, to know when the customer detracted from the
brand. (SAS, R, Clarabridge)
Product Life Cycle Analysis:Early warning system of each product quality at factory level and field
level metrics if going out of control or deviating from the goal is set up using Vertica and R integration
technology. All the products by ODMs and all of the metrics in Plan, Design, Built and Field stage is
monitored. Any metric moving out of control a signal of warning will be send. (Vertica,SAS, R, Tableau,
Share point)
Warranty Forecasting:Life time failure rate for each of all products in Inkjet section has been
forecasted and monthly failures, total calls and service calls are being forecasted using mixtures of
ARIMA model, Growth model like BASS, Logistic or Gompertz model and trivial trending of failure
rates of the related products. The failures then aggregated at the quarterly level and at financial year level
to facilitate the budget snapshot plan of respective business unit. (SAS, SQL Server, Oracle)
ResearchProjects
Ph.D. Thesis
Title: Computer-aided Search of Efficient Designs for Dependent Observations
Efficient design for specific parametric combinations has been obtained through the software developed in
VC++. There are four modules in the software, viz. all possible pairwise comparisons of the treatment
effects for Block designs, for nested block designs and for changeover designs, and Test-Control
comparisons for circular block designs with AR(1), Nearest Neighbor, and Spatial Correlation Structure.
M.Sc. Thesis
Title: Nested Block Designs and Their Applications
All the variance balanced Nested Block Designs were catalogued and some partially balanced nested
incomplete block (PBNIB) designs have been obtained. All the PBNIB designs available in the literature
and obtained in the project were catalogued. Nested block designs those are useful for making test
treatments and control treatment comparisons has been obtained and catalogued.
