Work Senior Animal Keeper Los Angeles Zoo, 2010-
Experience Responsible for conveying all relevant issues about section up and down the chain of command in both
oral and written form, training staff, ensuring that subordinates are following zoos policies and
procedures, making sure work areas are safe, the collection is properly cared for, evaluating employees
and going through progressive disciplinary measures when necessary.
Full-Time Keeper Los Angeles Zoo, 2002-2010
Responsible for knowing natural history and husbandry practices for animals in my care, provided clean
and sanitary living areas for animals, prepared diets, gave animals species appropriate environmental
enrichment, observed animals, notified supervisors and Health Center when animals were ill, medicated
animals as instructed to do so by veterinarian staff, assisted veterinarians by hand restraining animals for
medical procedures, notified supervisors both through oral communication and written documentation
when anything of consequence occurred and maintained professional relationships with coworkers.
Hospital/Quarantine Keeper Los Angeles Zoo, 2003-2007
Responsible for taking care of all animals on oral medications in the hospital, prepared quarantine
enclosures and diets for incoming animals based on curator’s instructions, took care of animals during
quarantine period, communicated any animal related issues to veterinarians and curators, assisted
veterinarians with quarantine exams, transitioned animals to new diets if necessary, responsible for
moving animals from quarantine building to their enclosures on zoo grounds, provided keepers with
information regarding the animal leaving quarantine and entering into their care. Have also been
involved with CDC quarantines for non-human primates.
