This session addresses the problem faced by global enterprises as they struggle with overall training effectiveness with the growing volume of large knowledge bases. The traditional methods of enrollment, categorization, and tag or keyword-based searching in the repositories are no longer efficient and require more intuitive approaches to get the learning to the user. Searches often result in too many options, and the user either gets lost in finding the right learning or ends up going through content he was not looking for and loses interest.
Participants in this session will examine ways to simplify overall content presentation of the learning knowledgebase. You will learn about design solutions that present learning with all the correlated topics quickly and intuitively navigable. You will see a graph structure visualized as a map with connected nodes that different zoom levels of the map further reveal. This model enables learners to view entire relationships of topics with other content topics and it brings in more granular details in the context or helps to find bigger abstract views of the topic. This structure also helps users actually see multiple learning paths towards the final desired objective and choose the most relevant learning topics in a context more aligned to his or her learning need.
In this session, you will learn:
- Challenges with a large enterprise having multiple
learning platforms
- A map-based learning model
- About personalized learning paths
- Technologies supporting a map-driven learning model
