Topics in Publications: Discussed how different pieces are published based on
audience, type of platform, and where it will appear.
Manuscript Editing: Worked closely with sentence structure and grammatical errors to
make sure manuscripts are ready for publication. Also worked on a friend of the
professor’s manuscript that she was attempting to publish.
Publication Development: Worked in more detail with the publishing process including
in-depth decisions making. As a class, worked closely with Professor Jim
Winship of the University of Wisconsin Whitewater on his book that is now in
publication.
Foundations of Writing and Editing: Worked on basic grammatical skill when
constructing a sentence and practiced basic editing skills.
Creative Writing: Worked on finding a creative voice to write through.
Multiple Literature Courses: Worked on many literary papers and arguments based
on the substantial amount of novels, short stories, and articles.
WORK HISTORY:
Nasco Copywriting Intern: March 2013 – September 2013
Worked with multiple catalogs Nasco distributes writing copy and occasionally
helping with some editing and other miscellaneous, especially Reading and
Development projects. Left in charge of multiple projects simultaneously and
worked independently. Picked up on new catalog styles and policies rapidly and
had no problem meeting deadlines. Practiced multitasking skills and handled the
stress of multiple projects well. Worked as part of a tight-knit group with other
copywriters, editors, and publication team for optimum end result.

2. Walmart Front-End Cashier: April 2008 – Current
Capable of working well with others. Works closely with a frontend team to
guarantee customer satisfaction. Has increased my ability to multitask – I am
trained as both a cashier and service desk associate and can handle the many
problems that arise, potentially, at once. Loyal employee who has gained and
continues to gain valuable people skills, multitasking skills, communication skills,
and problem solving skills.

Took full responsibility for the financial affairs as well as contributed to the group
as a whole and have experience in the creating and publishing process. The
Editor, Assistant Editor, Designer, Web Designer, and I all worked closely to
promote, choose, and publish work by fellow UW-Whitewater Students.
Vice President of English Club: Fall 2012 – Spring 2013
Worked closely with the president to conduct meetings and set up fundraisers for
fellow students. English club was a place for writers and readers of any degree
program to come together and discuss their writing and thoughts on literature.

Published in the 2013 and 2014 issues of The Muse: UW-Whitewater’s Literary
and Arts Magazine. My being a member of this organization had no bearing on
whether I was chosen for publication. All pieces were chosen unanimously after
all authors were made anonymous.
